Houston - New Jersey - Portland

Houston gets its Bigs - Portland builds for their Future & Change of Scene helps Brooks & Harris.

Houston Out: Yao , Aaron Brooks, Brad Miller & P Patterson* (*could consider C Hayes or J Hill)
Houston In: Marcus Camby, Andre Miller & Troy Murphy.
Rockets trade one huge Exp for large Exp (and TO) + picks up great veteran presence & production. Camby lives in Houston in the offseason & Andre is complete pro. ESPN + 8 wins

New Jersey Out: Devin Harris & Troy Murphy
New Jersey In: Aaron Brooks, Yao Ming & Luke Babbitt
Nets get huge expiring for 2011 free agents - and can sell Yao jerseys! Aaron & Luke are young prospects on rookie deals. Brooks numbers are down after injury, but this change of seen will be good - and he does add range from the PG spot.

Portland Out: Andre Miller, Marcus Camby & Luke Babbitt
Portland In: Devin Harris, Brad Miller & Patrick Patterson* (*works with C Hayes or J Hill)
Blazers get younger version of Andre to build with core. Brad Miller has Camby's offensive skills to complement LMA (and Oden in future). Patterson becomes back up 4 when LMA in post.

RealGM & ESPN Stats are skewed because Yao & Troy are not playing & B Miller & Brooks injuries. This gets Houston traditional Bigs, Marcus would go to Houston, Aaron & Devin get change of scenery and Portland cashes productive veterans for players who fit with our core group.

Not sure I see the point for NJ.
Devin has been playing very well this season while Brooks has not. Isn't he also about to be a RFA? Not sure I want to take my chances with that.

I'm glad that Houston's "filler" is either two good young players or an all NBA defender.

Not even close.

Rockets can get more than expirings for Brooks.

Horrible and Ridiculous - Not even close;
Sorry you are insulted about a variation of a trade that is being discussed on the national sports talk (Brooks & Camby) - but how you find this such an insult is amazing. I assume you are not talking about Marcus Camby as the all NBA defender because he's a 4 time All NBA + DPOY 2007 and has a PER of 16.2 now - 6pts, 11+ rbs & 1+blocks. Or maybe pawning off Andre Miller with his 18.9 PER who has missed one game in the last 630+ (because he was suspended) is the problem. Since your only
$ 15M over the cap it understandable that you want resign Aaron Brooks having given Lowry the starting job on a 5 year deal.

Oh, and the filler was one of the 3 contracts that would complete the deal. You other 2M players all have trade restrictions and the player with the mid level PER was selected.

Sorry for the fleece job - the Blazers can live with Camby and Miller.
(By the way, Brad Miller would not get playing time with Camby and Murphy available).

The trade that most likely to happen is Brooks + Jeffries for Camby. Your trade has the Rockets taking on salary and losing promising young talent on cheap contracts for veterans of questionable usefulness.

Many people such as coaches, GMs, and other players have talked about Chuck Hayes as a possible All NBA defender this year. He's done great against pretty much everyone but Dwight his whole career. He's also one of the Rockets team captains and likely our MVP. He certainly isn't filler.

Who cares how far over the cap we are? We certainly won't be after this season with only some $40 million in guaranteed salary next season. The only real consideration is getting under the luxury tax, which this deal actually has the rockets taking on salary(AND losing Yao's insured contract). Further, if we choose to keep Brooks, we would likely be able to sign him for cheap considering his RFA status and the CBA expiring...and being over the cap wouldn't hinder us doing this in any way.

2 young recent lottery picks and a possible All NBA defender are not "filler" in any sense of the word. If you want any of those three, you had better be willing to give up something of actual value.

So yeah, this is pretty horrible for the Rockets.

I think at this point the Blazers would rather have Brooks than Harris, Brooks is a RFA that at the rate he's playing this season will be cheaper to resign than let Devin play out the final(read:most expensive) years of his contract especially when as Roy and Aldridge's deals escalate.

But onto the original deal...New Jersey is getting shafted. Yao's value is only as a EC but there's really not a great FA class this summer, which is the reason they were pushing hard to trade for Melo. And when Melo gets to pick this summer I doubt he picks Jersey(Brooklyn whatev).

So basically they're giving up their best player for a EC and Babbitt who IMO has no business being anywhere near an NBA roster.

I doubt you are correct, when the guy that's supposed to be his backup (Lowry) is making about 80% as much as Devin. He'll be the best PG on the RFA market this summer, and could command 8 figures.

Any Camby trade will involve at least one big man going back to Portland. The Blazers simply don't have enough depth to trade Camby without getting a PF or a C in return. I think asking for Hill is too much but I don't think Patterson is off limits if the teams decide to make a deal.
