Orlando/Denver - Can Melo save the Magic?

Post#1 » by JayT44 » Sat Feb 12, 2011 8:54 pm

Orlando
Gives: J. Richardson ($14M exp.), Q. Richardson, Anderson, TPE, 2012 1st, 2014 1st

Denver
Gives: Melo, Harrington

Why Orlando does it: Melo and Dwight become an unstoppable duo. Dwight gets more easy looks due to the double teams on Melo, and vice versa. Those two open up the floor for the many shooters on Orlando. Harrington is a perfect fit for the Magic's system at the 4, whether he starts or comes off the bench.

Why Denver does it: Get a very big expiring back, giving them the option to go after more free agents this summer. Quentin is on a small contract, even if he may not be a great fit for the team; doesn't kill financial flexibility by taking him in. They get a good prospect in Anderson, TPE from the Gortat/Lewis trades, and 2 future first round picks.

Thoughts? Changes?

Not even close. Orlando does not have the assets to obtain Melo.

Why would Denver want Richardson? They already have Afflalo and JR Smith at 2 guard.

The magic would have to give up nelson for the nuggets to even consider.

you would have to get a 3rd team invovled to get the nuggets to trade melo. I just dont see any deals getting done with melo and with alot teams this year.

Orlando can't trade their 2012 first this year. Right now they can only trade their 2013 first.

This. If Arenas steps his game up, I'd consider it if I'm Orlando.

i tried differnt things and i could find a 3rd team. I thought the mavs but that didnt work. This wouldnt help unless nuggets were desperate and they are playoff team right now .

Ok this is what came up with. Idk if really that any good but somthing of epic trades and moving of players would have to go.

I cant get the link to work but it would go like this?

Orlando trades Neslon to the Nuggets

Dallas trades Haywood and Marion to the Nuggets
and B.Cardinal to the magic

Golden states trades charile bell to the mavericks and ekpe udoh to the magic

Orlando trades R.Anderson and chris duhon to golden state ,
magic trades jj redick to dallas

Orlando really did not have the pieces to get Melo 3 months ago, now that they moved Gortat and their pick they have even less.

like my example said a epic trade would have to happen. And DEN would have to be desperate enough to go with it.

Jameer, JRich, and Anderson is a better package than anyone is going to give up for Melo. Which is why Melo has still not been moved. NY won't overpay a guy who will sign with them next year and no other team (except maybe Dallas) would pay anything close to this package for a Melo rental.

The Magic are in way too much cap hell with Turk and Arenas to be paying Melo 20 mill.
