The pick I imagine would have to be an unprotected first

Perception must be that Thabeet isn't a complete bust

Or that Houston can get a better prospect with that pick.

What does a young tema like Memphis want with a washed up battier ?

I must be missing something because i dont think anybody has ever lost value as quickly as Thabeet ever did. Even Darko and Kwame were considered too much potential to give away in year 2.


They have to trade a former #2 pick one year removed from the draft and another draft pick just to get an expiring contract? I dont get it.

He's certainly not washed up. Memphis wants to make the playoffs and Gay is out with an injury. Battier is a great defender, a great leader, and a good shooter so he would be a good fit.

What pick(s) does Memphis have? The Wolves own Memphis' protected 1st this year.

If this happens, would be the first time I'm actually mad at Morey.

That pick is probably a 2nd round pick. Houston is probably lowering their tax line a little and Battier is not worth a 1st round pick.

That pick is probably a 2nd round pick. Houston is probably lowering their tax line a little and Battier is not worth a 1st round pick.

There are several teams that would at the very worst give a low first for Battier, Boston being one.

Battier isn't worth a 1st, but getting someone to take on Thabeet's contract might be.

There are tons of teams willing to part a first for Battier. Check out the Boston board. They're practically begging to trade a first + Avery Bradly for Battier.

It is a good deal for both teams. Battier goes home to Memphis Houston Takes on a Big to develop and get a future 1st Rd pick.

Memphis right now don't have their first this year, owned by Jazz but protections might let them keep it. This means it would have to be a 2013.

Well, they need to clear as much cap as possible to re-sign Randolph and Gasol, and everyone (but the Memphis owner) knew that Thabeet should not have been drafted anywhere near the 2nd overall pick. Still, its hard to remember a lotto big that had to have a pick added to him to get expiring contracts in his second year.

battier is great defensively, pretty much the only player in the league that can shut down kobe, can hit a open 3. what team in the west wouldnt want battier on there team?
