Heh, nice, I like these.
I'll admit that I said, on at least one occasion, that the Jazz had NOT given up on Deron Williams. Whoops. Looks like they knew something I didn't

Thats the big question. Is this part of a three way deal?
That pick is probably a 2nd round pick. Houston is probably lowering their tax line a little and Battier is not worth a 1st round pick.
The annual JES eat crow thread?

All the way up 'til today I would say that the Rockets wouldn't trade Lee or...I don't know...Battier for another project Big Man.
...Yeah, I was wrong, but still can't believe we got the first round pick with it!

I told a MIN fan that their only deal would be Curry/Randolph. He said something along the lines that I had no idea what I was talking about.

Good bet. I'm a sneaky one with that below the belt cheap shot.
Trouble is that most all the Mav's guys are either my age....or a god (roddy) who's sacred there and anywhere else, no big deal. Jes is too good at this stuff to try selling Stevensen or Barea as big time, and realistically, there's damn little to deal with the windows of opportunity so different. Now the Mavs and Spurs could discuss stuff. GSW can dicker and deal with other teams who have young talent...but Dallas? Dallas is full "Win Now". They have nobody who'd be relevant in a few years when GSW may be winning.

This thread is not going the way it was intended.
First, my trade dealine surprises that I would have said "no way" if it was just a proposal
-No way did I think Deron Williams would get traded this year
-Perkins for Jeff Green
-Baron Davis to Ohio
Eat crow:
-From last year, after the eat crow thread...Boston being playoff contenders. Thought they (the big 3) were done.
-Joe Johnson re-signed with Atlanta...and not dumped by the deadline
-Cuban did not trade Butler to Sacramento, Minnesota or Cleveland to get out of his luxury tax. HE has been much cheaper than his reputation the last 5 years and I would have bet he would have done that. Or at least to Stevenson.
-Blake Griffin being Oden 2.0 (waaay wrong)
-Other than Denver and to some extend, Boston and Orlando, not to many teams made an effort to lower their luxury tax this year.
-Igoudala is still a Sixer
-Resurection of Turkoglu being meaningful again.

BTW, I am still waiting for all those people who thought a team would give a 1st round pick for renting the likes of Reggie Evans, T-Mac, Kristic, Landry, etc. to man up.

Don't feel bad. We are told that NBA teams are run by experts, smart guys paid huge money, with big databases and resources. The hard fact is...at any point in time 1/4 of those NBA "experts" are just a blunder away from getting the axe. I agreed that NY was not gutting the team for Melo, but an owner with big money and small brains stepped in to undo the GM's work. Now...they are stuck.
I quit saying "GSW would NOT do that because it's stupid"....what was I thinking...GSW has made moves as dumb as a houseplant...and OFTEN. If I got blindsided as often as GSW's GM's have over the last few decades...I'd live in a nerf room and never go outdoors.
Not savoring the Crow (tastes like misery) I've learned to not give the "Experts" the benefit of the doubt. As you all might have noticed I'd been a Warrior fan. If i got paid every time I had a BETTER idea than the guys running the show...I'd be cruising around in a Ferrari. I mean...do you take Brandan Wright or Noah in the draft? Is Bimbo Coles> Tim Hardaway? Is Felton Spencer...RELEVANT?
Do ya think Latrell Spewell is your franchise guy? Uh...seriously...my old team is generally an excuse looking for a clue. i ate the Crow a few times when thinking the team had SOME idea of what's going on.
Even so....the Knicks,Nets,Griz,T-Wolves,Raptors,Paper Clips....are no better. What is UP? I'm used to a reality where guys getting about $10 an hour are expected to know what's going on. In the NBA...it's not like that. Somehow guys who are WAY unskilled get huge $ to demolish a franchise.
So....I'm done with crow. I never presume "my team" knows sh*t. My reads,if I get a good look...are a pretty solid %. I DID assume that anyone pretending to be GM could trade a proven 20 pt scorer for...SOMETHING....and GSW's "brains" proved me wrong....a lot. My opinions were solid, but my assumption that the franchise had SOME ability to deal....was sadly optimistic, and now I know that.

I was absolutely convinced that the Jazz would do a luxury tax trade, with AK the most likely candidate to be dumped. I posted several trade ideas along that line.
Imagine my surprise when it was Deron who got traded, and even more so that the trade barely lowered their payroll! (Only by about $2m) Just a complete misread for me.

I thought Chicago would move the Miami 1st they got from Toronto for Anthony Parker. It is going to be a late pick and guaranteed money. Watching Bogans brick those corner threes last night made me think I still had the right idea.

I will take mine with a big helping of hot sauce.
I thought the Nuggets would end up with the Nets package, which Melo was rumored to have also thought would happen as well even as recently as monday.
I also never thought the Knicks would give up everything they did to get Melo, if I would have believed that they would give up Randolph, Chandler, Galinari, Mozgov, Felton, and 3 picks, I probably would have given them more of a chance to get Melo.
2011 Annual EAT CROW thread

IMO, these are the common theme:
1. No way Melo ends up in NY.
2. No way NY gives up anything for Melo when they could be signing him as FA.
3. No way Utah gives up Deron.
4. Shagadelic finally stops his bynum trades.

I'm sure this came as a shock to most when it actually happened, but I'm the only one that I remember outright stating it. So this crow is alllllllllll mine
