Perhaps a trade of something like Steve Blake and Pau Gasol for Westbrook and Nazr Muhummad? (off the top of my head)

I think it would fit both teams extremely well, you could start Pau in place of Perkins and have Ibaka at PF (or vice versa) and have Perkins backup Pau. You could start Maynor and finally give Durant a full time PG whose job it is to get HIM the ball. No more alpha dog concerns and drama late in games where Westbrook sometimes screws it up. Pau is an all-star and borderline HOFer mostly for his international play, and we know that when Pau is playing Pau basketball, he is the best big man in the NBA no question. Maybe a change of scenery and a fresh new start is just what Gasol needs if he is having issues with the team (idk).

On the other hand, LA finally gets to correct and fix the issue thats been haunting them since the days of Magic Johnson, having a competent PG. Not just a competent PG, Westbrook is an all star and could thrive being the first option once Kobe hangs them up. Westbrook is only like 22 years old so thats a good 10 years, and I believe he could build himself a nice legacy in LA. The Lakers wouldn't lose a step in their front court simply moving Odom into the starting lineup at PF and having Nazr off the bench. If the Lakers want to somehow pursue Dwight they could move Bynum for him (but thats for a completely different thread).

So what are your thoughts? Should each team do this?

I never understood why fans want to trade players when their value is at the lowest its ever been. Why try to trade Gasol now that he is worth basically nothing since the Lakers would look desperate to get rid of the guy.

And before anyone calls me out, I also complain about Suns fans wanting to trade Robin Lopez after a down year.

I've been thinking a CP3 for Westbrook trade for a while now...This was before this series...Its some If's with it ofcourse, but I can see CP3 getting Dealt for Westbrook..NO would want something then to just lose CP3 for nothing,, and Westbrook is a Young Guard, who would get his chance at being Batman,,, CP3 is still young and would fit perfectly with KD and I think he'd sign an extension with a team with that much upside...Now im not sure about thier contracts or whatever, but I can see both teams doing this..

You can't do a one for one trade Westbrook for CP3 it would have to be filler the salaries are not even in the realm of matching.

I have no clue why Nick Collison makes that much money but he sure can be trade bait in this case.

It was a signing bonus. Originally he made 6.75M this season, but since he agrees to a rather cheap extension ($11M over 4 years, that is less than 3M a season), his salaries this season is boosted to 13M. He will never make that much again.

I think that man in your avatar might be a more realistic trade for Pau, but regardless, Lakers wont trade Pau. Yes he's played like dog **** this post season, but i don't think it warrants him being booted out.

This. While I admit I was on the Westbrook + others for D. Howard bandwagon, I would definitely say no to Pau. Plus Westbrook wouldn't be the right fit for the Lakers. Could you imagine the fits that Kobe would throw when Westbrook forgets he exists like Westbrook does to Durant now?

Sam Presti heavily front-loaded his extension, he makes like 1 million for the next 3 years.

Why would Lakers do this when they can just trade Blake for Rose?
