Trade Rumor: UTA, PHI and WAS, MIN

I thought this might be interesting to some people here:
NBADraft.net Forums wrote: I heard a sports radio host in Philadelphia say that the Sixers were openly discussing trading Andre Iguadola to the Utah Jazz for The # 3 pick in the 2011 draft, he said Jodi Meeks and Spencer Hawes(who would have to agree to a sign and trade) would be involved too, The Sixers would take back Memhet Okur and select another Turkish prospect Enes Kanter to play C...essentially the trade hinges on The Wolves passing on Kanter at 2(they are expected to select Kanter and trade him to Washington for the # 6 pick and Nick Young) The Sixers and Jazz are rumored to be discussing a trade that would send Andre Iguadola, Jodi Meeks and Spencer Hawes to the Jazz for Memhet Okur and The # 3 overall pick...Have any other Sixers/Jazz fans hear about this potential draft day trade...The Jazz still own the 12th pick for the BPA(Jimmer Fredette or Jordan Hamilton) The Sixers own the 16th pick and are supposedly in love with 3 prospects besides Kanter(Tyler Honeycutt and the Morris Twins)...

Utah is getting raped in that deal.

A trade between Utan and Washington makes sense, but Nick Young's a free agent. I suppose they could do a sign and trade if there's a new CBA, but it seems unlikely that any trade including him has been worked out to any extent. Maybe Jordan Crawford?

My understanding is that because NY is not technically under conract, he cannot be traded prior to or during the draft. Is that incorrect?

Too convoluted to happen IMO. Dealing picks and free agents via SnT's is not very realistic especially if it's involving more than 2 parties. Too many moving parts, it'll likely fall apart at some point.

Fair trade on both sides.

Any trade that involves S&Ts is meaningless. There is no new CBA and no one has any idea when, or even if, S&Ts will be legal again. And as I've said elsewhere, nobody is going to make picks for other teams and then risk having to wait months to find out if the trade is even legal. That makes the Hawes and Nick Young mentions impossible, which doesn't say much for the "rumor's" credibility.

If Washington is under the cap, couldn't the still technically sign/extend Nick Young?

Take this with a grain of salt, but I heard the same rumor from a guy at my gym last week. He claimed to know a guy (or maybe he knew a guy who knew a guy) with that exact deal.
According to him the Sixers are targeting Kanter as their guy and they are trying to get up to get him with either Utah or Minny.
And yes iguodala is the bait with Holiday untouchable and Turner close to untouchable.
There was also an article in the Sunday paper speculating on dealing Iguodala for a higher scoring 2. Ellis, Martin, Mayo and Harden were tossed out in the article.

Agree with the others in that a draft day deal involving an SNT = meaningless rumor. Still, if there is smoke (and I'm not 100% that a post on a Forum - if that's what this is - is actually smoke), then generally there's fire and someone could just have the principals wrong. As for the deals:
MIN/WASH makes a lot of sense to me. Kanter wants WASH and WASH wants to keep Wall happy. A deal around #2 for #6 + a part could work. Young isn't the part though, but Crawford, Seraphin, and/or Booker could make a lot of sense for MIN in that they could use some wing scorers and another banger down low. MIN dropping out of #2 to 6 doesn't seem that far-fetched to me either. MIN's F rotation is set with Beasley, Johnson, and Love, and I'm not sure that a Love/Kanter combo would be a good compliment. Wouldn't surprise me if this one did have some legs.
UTH/PHI doesn't make as much sense to me. Sure, PHI could lighten the load on the wing and would love to snag a top 3 pick in the process, but I don't see what UTH is getting out of it. If they wanted Iguodala, then they could prolly land him with just Okur and maybe some light value - here they're kicking in the #3 pick. I guess I could see UTH dealing the pick for the right price, but I can't see this as the price. Honestly, I could see UTH taking one of the WASH deals above over this one.

As most others have said, Utah is overpaying. I think someone is talking out their azz with this rumor. Maybe an agent.

If the wiz get the #2 pick they would definitely go with Williams over Kanter.

This is just stupid enough to actually happen...except Utah isn't ran by idiots.

The Wizards are only a few hundred bucks under the cap for the 2010/11 season. The 2011/12 season doesn't exist yet so I don't see how they can sign Young.
It could be a deferred deal but that would be difficult to work out. First of all, there would have to be an implied agreement in place on Young's new contract, which is difficult to work out in the absence of any real salary structure in the new CBA. Secondly, Minnesota would have to draft the player Washington wants, and Washington would have to draft the player Minnesota wants. Then they can wait for a new CBA and consumate the deal. I suppose Minnesota wouldn't have any trouble drafting Kanter (because even if the trade fell through, they'd be left with a possible starting center and/or a trading chip). The issue is, who would Minnesota want Washington to draft? If Minny wants a guard like Kemba Walker, the deal could fall apart. Washington doesn't need or want Walker and wouldn't want to be stuck with him if the deal fell through. Maybe Minnesota wants Biyombo. Not sure if the Wizards would agree, but it's more plausible than Kemba Walker.

What about an extension though?
Boston tried to, and then OKC extended Perkins this season. Could Young be "extended" while's he's still under contract and then traded?

This was dropped on either the Philly Board on RealGm or one of the other Philly sites. Seems to me that Utah might get a better deal for the #3 pick but I don't know if they value the #6 pick or Nick Young all that much. This trade would leave Utah with Favors, Jefferson, Milsap, Hawes, Iggy, CJ Miles, Harris, Meeks, Gordon Hayward, & Raja Bell as their team. A nice mix of young guys and young veterans. Not bad. Also, Utah & Philly are frequent trade partners.

If Washington could get the #2 for Nick Young and the #6, would they even draft Kantor instead of Derrick Williams
A team trading down to 6 would presumably be looking for one of Kemba Walker or Brandon Knight who look to still be there and that team might not want to take a chance on one of the extremely iffy Eurobigs.

Didn't dig to much on this, but from Coon FAQ
"Except for extensions of rookie scale contracts (which must be signed by October 31), extensions may be signed up to June 30, the day before the player would have become a free agent."
I assume WAS is going to extend Young regardless of if a trade happens and it probably behoves him to sign before the new CBA. I'm not sure what he's worth on the open market. I'm guessing he'd get an offer in the 5-8 range, three year deal? Let's just say 6m/yr average. A JR Smith type contract.
The tricky part is I think he'd be PPP. Luckily WAS will be under the cap, but MN would need to send out ~6m in salary as I don't think they'll have as much flexibility. I don't get the feeling they want to move Ridnour, and I think they like webster as the backup 3.
Maybe some sort of mishmash of Tolliver, Ellington, Hayward, pick? I assume MN targets Biyombo @ 6.

Nick Young is a rookie scale contract. And in all likelyhood, BYC.
