REVISED: The ABCs of Trades: A is for Atlanta w/Toronto

In a never ending quest to fight boredom of both the lock-out and my job, I'm going to try to propose trades for all 30 teams going alphabetically through the list.
First up the Atlanta Hawks along with the Toronto Raptors.
Since Calderon/Hinrich seemed to be the biggest opposition from Atlanta and non-Atlanta fans weighing in, I took out those two and sent Klieza to Atlanta with a #2 coming back.
Marvin Williams, Zaza Pachullia, #2, $1.6m TPE/cap space
for
Andrea Bargnani, Linas Klieza
ATL
Teague / Hinrich
J.Johnson / Hinrich
J.Smith / Klieza
Horford / Rolle
Bargnani / Benson
-Creates a deadly shooting line-up from all positions other than SF where Josh Smith can work the post, be a slasher or utilize his passing skills. This does not mean Josh is now a SF that shoots the three as Bargnani would be more the SF and Smith in the post on offense.
-Horford a near ideal defensive and rebounding compliment to Bargnani
-A win now move which seems to maximize the talent of the starting 5.
-Massive size SG-C should lead to quality rebounding and defense even with Bargs
TOR
Calderon / Bayless
DeRozen / Barbosa
M.Williams / J.Johnson
E.Davis / A. Johnson
Pachullia / J.Valanciunas / Alabi
-Sheds the contracts of Bargs and Klieza
-M.Williams perhaps could flourish with a change of scenery and be a long term solution at SF

I'd probably do it. Interesting trade. I would do this but Bargs + Calderon may or may not get us a slightly better package.

Bargnani to the Hawks is an interesting idea...one that I had never considered
I think the Hawks pull the trigger on this one
Raptors would insist that Kleiza be involved...
Kleiza, Calderon, Bargnani...4...Williams, Hinrich, Pachulia

I think this is a pretty good trade. Marvin Williams has underperformed thus far, but like you said, he could use a change of scenery. As much as I like Bargnani, he has no place on this team. Also being surrounded by good defenders and rebounders such as Smith and Horford will hide his defensive deficiencies. I also like Zaza, solid centre to hold the spot until Val comes over. Hinrich is better than Calderon defensively but in all honesty i think both teams want to develop their young point guards (Teague and Bayless), I don't think this swap is big deal other than contracts. I don't know what Hinrich is paid but its probably less than Calderon, however Atlanta will be getting the best player in the deal so i think they would be ok taking some extra salary.

I thought of adding James Johnson to Atlanta since they could use the depth. I'm not sure if they would want Klieza, but I'm sure Toronto would be more than happy to make that an option.

doubt ATL wants to take on both Calderon and Bargnani's $$$. And add Kleiza's $$$, are you serious?

Bargnani, Josh Smith, Al Horford is a SICK frontcourt. Bargnani can guard big C's in the post, Horford hopefully provides the help D, and Josh Smith flying all over the place. Offensively...nuff' said.

I don't think ATL will do the deal, because not knowing if JC is coming back they will have
Hinrich as a backup PG & SG. Having Bargnani on the Hawks would mean Harford to play
Center. Bar's would be out of the paint looking to rain 3's & not mix it up down low.
I look at it this way
Bars> Marvin
Kirk & Zaza>>>>Calderon

Keeping with TJ's ABC trade:A is for Atlanta with LAC
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... Id=3neysv2M. Williams & Zaza for Kaman
LAC need's a SF & ATL needs a C
As Everymore would say "So E ZA a Kave man can Will(iams) do it"

Huh read the players being moved before you come in here with your hate for The Raptors Klazia is still on Toronto. Seriously it's getting so funny, you say Bargs sucks cause he's making $ per year and he's garbage. In reality he's better then Marvin Williams at this point and time for Toronto. Marvin
maybe the SF we are looking for but 2012 is stacked with wings who can come in and be 1) cheaper, 2) possibly have better potential then Marvin and 3) let us still keep Bargs and see what he could do with Jonas V at the 5 (who looks really good now) or the "rumored" free agent center that Casey hinted to.
Toronto isn't going to do the Marvin for Bargs swap unless the Jose for Hinrich or ZaZa, as the deal stands it's a lot of money for Atlanta to take on but at this price but you have to pay to get something as would be the case in this deal. If it helps any Toronto would be looking to cut Kirk since outside his expiring deal I don't see long term value in him unless he wants to sign here cheap after his contract is up.

Don't see too many actual ATL fans on this thread...
OP trade is any easy pass. Teague had a nice postseason and we should be ready to get him some more minutes @ PG - acquiring Calderon would completely kill that momentum. Most fans would see the acquisition of Calderon as being another move back to having Mike Bibby as our PG (good O, needs to be hidden on D) and no ATL fan would view that as an appetizing option. Hinrich is the ideal partner with Teague since he's a vet who will prolly come cheaper next offseason. Bargnani is interesting, and ATL fans in general are divided as to whether we'd really want him on the team (even in a straight dump by TOR), but adding Calderon would be a deal breaker - no way, no how that would go down.
Secondary trade with LAC would be interesting from our end, but admittedly, the LAC GM would need to like Marvin a lot more than the general attitude toward him on this board to take it. Personally, I don't see Kaman as the guy we're looking for, but for the price of Marvin and Zaza and the fact he's an expiring would mean I'd pull the trigger. I'd prefer to hit the FA market than take the chance that Kaman would actually show up though, so there's really not a lot of negotiable parts in a deal.

Still like it. Klieza was playing with an injury last year and he would be a serviceable back-up for Atlanta (even though his contract isn't great, but Atlanta is still getting the best player in this trade)

3/14 really isn't that bad for Klieza who I really liked when he was on Denver... seemed versatile enough to play SG-PF and often played strong offensively and defensively. Besides, Atlanta could really, really use depth.

The skillsets are interesting for Atlanta, but I'm not sure they want ANOTHER big contract for a guy whose best position is really PF.

I agree 100% on the skill sets and why I've thought he would be a good fit for some time.
Offensively... Bargnani is probably best at SF because of his shooting and ability to pull away the opposing team's C, J.Smith at PF because of his post game and lack of range and Horford at C since he can exploit mismatches with his athleticism and mid range game.
Defensively.. Barganai is probably best at C since he is slow footed, yet big. Smith is probably best at SF since his size, quickness and strength would frustrate most SF and Horford is probably best at PF where his weak-side shotblocking and help D would be utilized.
Meanwhile they do send out M.Williams 3/25, and take on Barg's 4/42, which has an early termination the last year. And they are going to saddled with contracts not matter what as long as they have JJ, J.Smith and Horford. At least the annual cost is nearly the same here.

So how rich is the guy that just bought the Hawks? Or probably more importantly, how important is having a winning basketball team? Like Marc Cuban important?
Cause this is taking on a heck of a lot of salary, what 30 million more long term (It basically extends Kirk for 1 more year and an average 2 million more and Marvin at 1 more year and an average 2-3 million more, when neither looked attractive as contracts). On the court it makes a lot of sense, but I could see most owners not willing to swallow that much salary.
