Milwaukee / Memphis / Minnesota

Milwaukee gets: Nikola Pekovic

Why? They need a backup for Bogut, this is a young cheap option for them.

Memphis gets: Ersan Ilyasova, Luke Ridnour

Why? They get an extra big and a veteran point guard.

Minnesota gets: OJ Mayo

Why? They take a chance on a young shooting guard.

I don't mind it. Lots of different views on Pek, so you may get different responses.

MIN can cut MIL out pretty easily though, with cheap alternative bigs like Tolliver and Randolph.

Given Pekovic's dominance in Europe, it's hard not to think he's a good prospect. He's a very good post scorer in the NBA already, and the rest may or may not develop.

I think it's pretty fair value all around. I'd say the Wolves do it. They probably want to wait a week to let JJ Barea heal a bit more first though. If Barea's hamstring acts up, the Wolves don't do this trade.

I thought of that but I personally don't see you guys trading Randolph due to his versatility at the 3 and 4 and I think Ersan is more appealing then Tolliver.

I can see that too. Good trade.

Or at least until Thursday, after they play MEM.

Tolliver is our versatile player that can defend 3's and 4's. Randolph hasn't played a minute at the 3 since he's been with the Wolves and I don't see that changing.

Pek + Ridnour for Mayo is perfect for the Wolves. Not only would it rid two players that wouldn't be needed but it also frees up salary to resign Mayo.

Its a pretty good all around proposal.

Nice job.

BTW OP, for what it's worth, I read this rumor today at poopsworld. Take it with the same skepticism that all hoopsworld rumors deserve:

Longtime suffering Wolves fan here. I think the Wolves are a shooting guard away from being a playoff team with Rubio now in the fold. Are there any SGs available by trade?

Bill Ingram
Looks like your suffering is near an end! They are very interested in Mayo, as are the Pacers, but Memphis keeps changing their minds about trading him or keeping him. I’m sure as we get closer to the deadline we’ll see some interesting names available.

One last comment - MEM evenetually needs to send Selby out, since they won't want to pay four PG's.

Pargo's signed for two years, Selby was just a mid-2nd.

Correct me I'm wrong here Grizz fans, but I believe they see Selby as more of a 2-1, then a 1-2.

They could probably send a young guy to the D-League or make a separate deal for a draft pick or big.

When I thought about it, I think that with the shortened season, it hasn't been a month since he signed anyway.

It's not a problem either way, they can do whatever they want with Selby later, and it shouldn't affect the deal. I was just trying to fine-tune a deal that already looks really good.

Memphis doesn't need/want Ridnour, we're fine with Conley, Pargo and we like what we see in Selby.

It would be cool to get Selby coming back, although I could understand if Memphis wanted to keep him. I don't like the idea of only running with two point guards though, since Barea has been injured already, Rubio is a rookie and Lee is out injured for another month or so (and he's a rookie).

So yeah, I do this deal if someone can send a somewhat competent PG to us.

As I've indicated on a couple recent threads, if MIN wants Mayo, it seems like Anthony Randolph--who just hasn't been getting minutes, and doesn't seem to have much hope for any in the future with MIN--should be enough. If for some reason MIN wants another combo-forward to replace Randolph, they could then presumably just trade Pekovic straight-up for Ilyasova. And they'd just keep Ridnour, and not even have to wait a week for Barea to heal.

Agreed. We do need 3 point shooting though. So take out Ridnour and give us Wayne Ellington (rookie contract) or Carlos Delfino (expiring contract) then I'd do it.

I think MIN fans would be OK with some combination of Pekovic, Ridnour, Ellington, Randolph and maybe Tolliver and/or maybe the MEM pick.

How about Memphis gets Anthony Randolph and Ersan Ilyasova
