New Start a Team Tourney:Winner Jersey Generals
Alright, with it being a new year, and after seeing the trash talking about the last tournament still going on, I was thinking it might be fun to get a something going.
What I was thinking was instead of a nice neat paired tournament with given scenarios, something like a free for all, where everyone can take any team they want and with a hopefully realistic trade or three, give the team an entirely new start for the new year. No small fixes.
So, given that bare bones description, anyone interested in judging such a ridiculous hodgepodge? If we have a handful of people that want to judge that would be great. I'm thinking 4 judges to each nominate their favorite new start scenario and then a post with voting between the nominees after a week or so. But if more people are interested in judging, that could work two.
Otherwise, lets just see who in this thread can radically make over a team most realistically.

Re: New Years, New Start a Team (Tourney?)
Judges:
HartfordWhalers
dockingsched
loserX
kdawg32086
(Replacement judge if necessary VintaGe36)
Entry time frame:
Wednesday January 4th - Friday January 13th. Entries can be posted directly in this thread.
All entries a) must conform with the new CBA (if your unsure, check the new CBA sticky), b) be realistic in value, and c) must give any team of your choice an entirely new start for the new year. No small fixes.
And just to be clear, this means if you think a team should, then you can take any team and switch the direction management wants to take them in, without hearing No way we break up ____ regardless of the value, no way management is willing to rebuild (although thats a brilliant trade!), no way ... So post away.
One last caveat: Only one entry per person.
{And since this will be open and previous entries will be visible, if you submit the same exact scenario as someone else I will give preference in my voting to the earlier version.}
Judges pick the finalists:
Monday January 16th. The official judging criteria is select the entry that conformed best with the rules and spirit of the contest. Each judge picking a 1st (5points) 2nd (3 points) and 3rd place (1 point) entry, with the 4 highest point total entries entered into a poll to be voted on by the board.
FInal Round:
On January 16th we get the official poll up for people to vote on the best entry. Voting closes the 23rd.
Any questions, clarifications, confusion?

I'm in as a participant. I can judge in later rounds if I'm out early on.

Re: New Years, New Start a Team (Tourney?)
I'd be happy to judge if you're looking for people.
The only caveat is that I can't get on during business hours, so if judging needs to be done overnight or some other very quick turnaround, I may not be the most helpful. If the judging windows are a little longer, say a couple of days, I can probably do that and would be glad to help.
(I like how I'm making contract demands already. I also want green M&Ms brought to my trailer by seven virgins. FEMALE virgins, please, I don't want a repeat of last time.)

I'm thinking we give it 2 weeks of entries, and then judges get 3 days over a weekend or such to pick their favorites, so your in.

I'm in, not sure if I'd like to judge or play, leaning towards competing.

Is this like GM a team? Last time I played somebody gave Kendrick Perkins $120 million contract. At least the new CBA prevents that.

Not even remotely. Think KOTB only, for big huge wholesale changes. See post 2 which is now updated.
