Vote: Chris Paul
true superstar, still young enough to build around, clips just gave up a ton for him and would without a doubt need one of the top 5 in this list to consider moving him
Nominate: Andrew Bynum
establishing himself as the clear cut 2nd best center in the league, very young. injuries only reason he's not higher.

isn't amare's contract uninsured? thats a pretty big hit to his value imo if true.

I don't know, Love has a really high opinion of himself and he really wants to win / get paid, so I have my doubts he's a sure fire guy to re-sign. At least Rondo seems to be locked in for four years at a relatively cheap contract.
Reluctantly, my vote goes to Chris Paul.
(though it's hard to imagine him ever netting anything close to what he just did again).
Nominate Bynum

Is Bynum's contract insured? If he's not, then the same thing would apply to him except Amare's played more games than Bynum in each of the past 5 seasons.

of course bynum's contract is insured. its very uncommon for contracts to be uninsured, and amare's was a high profile case of it when he had to pull out of team usa activities cause of it.

Vote: Aldridge. A top big man locked into a less than max contract.
Nominate: Irving. #1 pick who is showing very well - hard to beat the rookie scale for a promising young player in terms of value.

I still feel like Kobe has transformative value to a franchise in ways which even Paul doesn't. If Blake wasn't in LAC to form "lob city" with Paul, I don't think you see the mad ticket rush etc.
So, I'm going to go ahead and throw my vote away for the 3rd party candidate:
Vote: Kobe
Nominate: Bogut
Honestly any of Horford/Bogut/Amare/Bynum could get the nomination and it would be fine, its splitting hairs.
Breaking down contracts:
Horford 5 years 12 per flat, no injury history.
Bogut 3 years 39 million increasing, injuries.
Amare 3 (4th his option) 60 (83) increasing, injuries uninsured
Bynum 2 years 31 million increasing (2nd year is team option), injures.
I think Amare's contract length and uninsured status is a big hit, as well as his inability to be a defensive anchor. Paradoxically, Bynum is mildly hurt by only being only under contract for 2 years. Horford looks perfect. But tonight, I would go for a true center over and feel slightly more comfortable with Bogut over Bynum.
