I'm leaning towards Philly just traded the 14th pick and the 45th for the 27th, but I'm still floored by the Harkless pick.

I would've picked Moultrie in the lottery. I'm absolutely stunned he fell this far.

Don't know about the protection, but Moultrie would have been a great piece for the Heat, can't believe they let him go this easily.

Good deal for Miami

Chad Ford said the pick is lottery protected for the next 3 years. If the Sixers don't make the playoffs for 3 years, Miami gets 2nd rounders in 2015 and 2016.

Way better then I expected

It's not an exciting deal... I just guess Riley has some plans for C in FA, and with Bosh/Haslem likely to spend the majority of the season at PF rather than C, Moultrie would barely feature and his development would suffer.

Would also not surprise me if Arison was reluctant to take on guaranteed salary, which for the tax bracket we're in, means Moultrie would cost between $2.5m to $3m per year, which is high for a #27 pick.

Agree. He has game now and decent upside, can even evolve into a starting PF or C. There's a peculiar urge to overestimate player A off what he has NOT done...then ignore player B who actually DID produce. Moultrie was a bargain to begin with,and likely is a bargain after this deal. Miami got a guy who would have been a big plus,then traded him for a "profit" but...it's not a profit,because they ended up with less than he's worth,and they don't see the gain for a year.
