Combining the following rumours:

Lakers trade:
Pau Gasol
Cash Considerations

Lakers receive:
Josh Smith
JJ Barea
Wayne Ellington

Reasoning:

Josh Smith is a likely better fit for the Lakers then Pau Gasol, and is a great mate of Dwight's which may just encourage a Bynum-Dwight trade. Barea will also be invaluable for L.A. at the Point position and Ellington is a solid cheap wing shooter off the bench. Pau also wants out of L.A. and doesn't really fit old mates offense... Lakers could also use Smith's athleticism.

Atlanta trade:
Josh Smith

Atlanta receive:
Derrick Williams
Darko Milicic
Cash Considerations
4 mill TPE

Atlanta reasoning:

This trade is all about that Luxury Tax with Atlanta saving a guaranteed 4 million dollars, plus when the cash is used to buyout Darko even more. Derrick Williams is a solid cheap replacement for Atlanta as they begin there attempt to rebuild. (Similar to why the Harden - Beal trade was rumored except Smith already has a large contract)

Minnesota trade:
Derrick Williams
JJ Barea
Darko Milicic
Wayne Ellington

Minnesota Receive:
Pau Gasol

Minnesota Reasoning:

Pau - Pek - Love creates an elite big man rotation which would easily be up there for the best in the league. Pau is the perfect big for Adelman's offense due to his elite passing ability. Minutes shared (36 each with Pau and Love both having time playing at PF and C ..) its also possible that they may be able to play all three elite bigman at the same time causing serious matchup issues for the opposition... to do this they would have to play zone defense but it would be successful as long as they choose there moments. Gasol is overpaid but by trading Barea and Milicic it still leaves ~10mill to chase players such as Danny Green, OJ Mayo and/or Brandon Rush to get the three point shooting on the wings to complete the roster.

Pau has not said word one that he "wants out"
It is more that management is trying to find a way to get costs reduced and stay competitive. Its not on Pau. He has been as professional as can be about it.

I think Atl would try to retool rather than rebuild unless they somehow can trade JJ contract. They have too much talent to rebuild properly.

I don't want Pau in Minny, if we are going to overpay someone I'd rather have Iggy; but this is a very well thought out deal. Kahn might actually do this one. Nice work :)

nvm minnesota is no longer interested... i completely forgot about love's extension ...if we did this trade we'd have at best 3 mill in cap space to bring the roster up to 13... therefore the wing situation would just be destroyed... yeah ****. no longer interested in gasol period

I dont think this has ever happened, that the person who came up with the trade declines it
