Nash to Lakers: Sourced

Per Gambo in AZ, Nash in a S&T to Lakers for multiple 1st rd draft picks. States Nash turned down Toronto deal for Lakers so he didn't have to uproot his family. They could stay in Phoenix while he's in LA.

As a Suns fan, I absolutely hate and dispise this deal. Only because the Lakers are 1 of 2 teams that are absolutely hated by Suns fans. All I can say is WOW! Really wish they would've gone with a Knicks S&T instead.

Edit: Per latest reports, contract is 3 years 25+ million, and picks are '13 and '15 1sts, and '13 and '14 2nd's. http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/stor ... trade-deal

3 way trade with the Wolves? Phoenix is pursuing Beasley and they want Williams to come back home.

Gasol to the Wolves?

The article doesn't state anyone in return for Nash, just mentioned the multiple 1st rd picks.
Apparently the Suns have been linked to Sessions as well as Jordan Hill from the Lakers. So maybe they're involved in this deal as well. Like JJ mentions above possibly a 3 way with the Wolves. Suns have been linked to Beasley and a lot of people want Williams back home as well. Guess we'll find out more info in the next few days. Nothing is for certain till at least the 11th. Just like finding out if N.O. will match on Gordon or not.

Nash never wanted to go to Toronto he wanted to be closer to home in Phoenix, he falls into the 8.9 mill exception. Deal is done

Reports have the Lakers using the Odom TPE to take Nash.

Suns might have gotten more elsewhere, but they obviously wanted to do right by Nash. Can't really fault them for that.

Here's more info already....

Suns will get Lakers '13, '15 1st rd picks and '13, '14 2nd rd picks.

States Nash was never serious about the Knicks interest. Says the Lakers were Nash's 1st choice.

This is exciting!! What will Lakers next move be? I have to think they want to cut salary now.

Wow, wonder what protection is on them. '15 could be anywhere...

A deal with Orlando for Howard should be their main focus I would assume with Nash in the mix now. Bynum for Howard has been discussed forever. I'm thinking they should try Bynum, Gasol and Artest for Howard and S&T Anderson

Next year the Suns are looking at having at least 4 picks (2 firsts and 2 seconds). They have some other picks that they are supposed to be getting from other teams for past deals, but haven't checked to see who they are and when the Suns will see them.

If I remember right, that 2013 pick is the one that Cleveland has the right to swap with Miami's. Protection is pretty much irrelevant. I share your curiosity about the 2015 one, though.

Offensively, this will be a great trade. Defensively, pick and roll all day on Nash and any big on the Lakers.

Put this on the official deal list, edited in the latest details in post 1, and added a poll. :)

Orlando won't go for that. They already said they want salary relief + Bynum + picks. I think the Lakers will have to trade Gasol for salary relief and then use that to give Orlando salary relief. And, im not even sure they can stomach that because they just added another 8M (read 16) to their payroll..heh

I think both teams won this deal honestly. Nash wasn't gonna win a title in PHX and he has a better shot to win a title there. PHX got picks back which can help them rebuild. Is this deal not equal value for Nash? Of course. Considering the circumstances though, it allows both teams to progress with their plans for their team.

If I'm being honest though, I don't think this trade makes the Lakers an instant contender. They'll be better undoubtedly but they'll have to acquire someone like Howard to have a shot against OKC, SA, Miami, or even Boston considering that Gasol and Kobe are showing signs of age.
