And add to the 4 player double S&T (Jeffries and Felton) that:

Knicks also receive rights to two players currently in Europe and send Portland a 2016 second round pick

I'm not really sure what the reason here is for Portland, although if it is just swapping Thomas for Jeffries (with Gadz ungu cut and Felton not returning), it isn't really bad at all.

Supposedly it isn't quite finalized, so will hold off on adding that pesky poll for now.

How so?

Outgoing: Raymond Felton (S&T), Kurt Thomas (guaranteed)
Incoming: Dan Gadzuric (unguaranteed), Jarred Jeffries (S&T), 2016 pick

Would have to think we saved a bit of space plus get a future pick. It's by no means a blockbuster but getting something for an UFA isn't a bad thing.

Giving rights that can always be used in a trade down the line as an outgoing. <-- Small matter.

Doesn't a S&T involve multi year deal? A 3 year deal if im not wrong?

Only the first year as to be guaranteed, but yes, has to be at least 3 years. Makes no sense, imo.

It would seem that Diebler is the first player whos' rights were traded, I wonder who the second one is. I imagine it can't be someone of too much notability.

If you saw the limited list of players that the Blazers have the rights to you'd probably change your mind pretty quickly...

ah forgot all about unguaranteed. Doesn't matter much in that case.

Doesn't matter, just remembered that 2nd year onwards can be unguaranteed. Though how thin is the blazer rights/contract right now?

So much for the Knicks matching Lin "up to a billion dollars..."

Most of the guys we hold the rights to would be late second rounders on a good day. We're signing our top 2 Euro prospects for next season (Freeland and Claver).

I still think they match. Even if you ignore Lin-sinanity and the marketing aspects, they don't have a starter. Instead, right now they have 2 essentially backup pg's in Kidd and Felton both at 3m a year.

Then again, who knows what they will do.

The idea of letting Lin go only for him to turn into a legit PG in Houston has to be on NY's mind. Considering that the Knicks won't have cap space in the near future anyways, I'm betting they match as well.
