WHY?
OKC- The Thunder basically do the typical LMA trade, but with a few changes. They trade Perkins and Maynor as well and get back J.J. Hickson. Hickson is having a great season which sweetens the deal for them. They also dump Perkins which is a major plus. They are also trading 2 picks, PJ3, and Jeremy Lamb which is a little different than normal. Typically it not ALL of those players. I think the dumping of Perkins and the getting Hickson make up for it though. Nolan Smith provides them with a decent enough backup PG as they are giving up Maynor. Getting Matthews too is always nice as he is playing great.
POR- The Blazers get a very good deal here. They trade the second best PF in the league, but get Gortat, a good, young center on a great deal, Paul George, a great prospect that will turn into a very good player in this league as he is already good, they get David West as a large expiring to bring in 1 or 2 decent FAs, Maynor and PJ3 are also decent late prospects that could develop.
PHO- The Suns get Granger, while injured still a very good SF that can help them in the future, Lamb who is a promising youngster, two prospect PFs, and 2 picks both mid-late rounders. A decent rebuilding package.
IND- The Pacers trade 3 starters, 2 backups, and a pick for Ibaka, the TOR 2013 1st, and a huge expiring. An Ibaka/Hibbert front court is amazing and is easily the best in the East. The pick is guaranteed lotto which is great for a non-lotto team and the expiring could attract them a good FA. They do however have to take in Perkins' contract.
