KOTB: NYK-PHI-TOR

Knicks deal: Stoudemire, Brewer
Knicks aquire: Amir Johnson, Thad Young

Sixers deal: Thad Young
Sixers aquire: Andrea Bargnani

Raptors deal: Bargnani, Johnson
Raptors aquire: Stoudemire, Brewer

NYK: Felton, Kidd, Anthony, Young, Chandler (Prigioni, Shumpert, Smith, Johnson, Camby)
PHI: Holiday, Turner, Wright, Bargnani, Bynum (Ivey, Richardson, Young, Allen, Hawes)
TOR: Lowry, DeRozan, Brewer, Stoudemire, Valanciunas (Calderon, Ross, Fields, Davis, Gray)

Why?
The Knicks get off the Stoudemire/Anthony problem on the court while they aquire another solid big in Amir Johnson and one of the most flexible guys in Thad Young... The Sixers receive a perfect fit next to Bynum while they keep their core... The Raptors aquire a slasher in Stat and solid game and excellent d in Ronnie Brewer

Hmm... I kind of like this.

NY - gets some younger legs which they need.
Philly - trades in a tweener SF/PF for a nice compliment for Bynum whenever he is back
Raps - take a gamble on Amare, which may pay off. It's not like Barg and Johnson are getting them anywhere and also have big contracts.

I think this trade would have to wait a big because of Brewer in which case it's closer to Shumpert, Amare and Bynum's returns and make even more sense.

KOTB: Yes.

KOTB: YES

Wow, who would've thought someone could come up with a 3 team inter-divisional trade that actually works? It's a great deal for both NY and PHI, and for TOR it makes sense to take a gamble on rehabbing a guy who could be the star they need. STAT's contract runs the same length as Bargnani's, so they are not adding any time to their obligation. Good job.

I say no...
NYK are going to need someone to take the heat off Melo when he get's triple team & that's sure
in hell not Young. NYK need Brewer's D on the wing also. KOTB: NO

It's not too bad.

I don't like the fit for NY though. Amir Johnson is basically a lesser Chandler and Thad Young is a lesser Carmelo. Those guys aren't going to play much together, I think.

Reasoning for Sixers and Raptors is sound, but I think Toronto might balk at Amare's contract (I know I would).

Still, the problem is NY. IMO, they should trade Amare for lesser players who are better fits, but the guys coming in don't seem to be good fits at all. So it's close, but no for KOTB.

(yeah, I know it's very hard to get KOTB: yes, so the temptation is there when a deal is close like this, but it just doesn't work for me)

If you look at their lineup without Stat I think Thad Young is a well-fitting aquisition...

Dealing Ronnie Brewer is bad, but Shump will do his thing on D, no doubt!

Toronto says No.

Amir is a very good bigman to have off the bench. Amare costs way to much money, and it is gonna surprise myself to say this, I think Andrea has more value right now.

Besides, If Bargnani will net Young then we would just cut NYK out of the deal and take on Thad ourselves. He would fit very nicely in our frontcourt beside JV.

No.
Raptors trade away two of four competent frontcourt players for a player who is always injured on a non-insured contract. I would not trade Amir Johnson alone for that albatross of a deal.
Regardless of how limited Bargnani's game is, Amare Stoudemire is just too big of an injury risk at this point to take his contract on for any team.

I think the Knicks would end up declining this deal.

One reason that people stated that Melo, Amare, and Chandler won't work is that the paint is clogged since Chandler's always there, Melo likes to post up a lot, and Amare needs the paint for him to be clear when he drives in from the elbow. The floor spacing last season was an issue because both Melo and Amare had their worst years each shooting 35% from 16-23 feet. Melo has already bounced back and I presume that Amare will be more efficient shooting the mid range next season. Young is not as good of an outside shooter so the paint is more likely to be clogged.

On defense Young is a clear large upgrade over Amare, but he is kind of a tweener so the Knicks will still struggle defending bigger PF's. I think Melo has proven that he can handle smaller PF's making Young's presence less important. Stoudemire can also be useful as a backup C.

Additionally, Brewer has been really good this season. He's played excellent defense and so far he's shooting over 40% from 3. If he keeps this up he's actually more valuable than Shump in the short term. It's very possible that his outside shooting will come back to earth, but he's been playing so well I'd currently prefer not to deal him.

no. In my opinion this is too good for the Knicks. Amir Johnson and Thad Young combine to make less than Amare but fact is those guys give you solid production consistently and would be good fits next to Melo at the PF position. For Philly I could see them doing this. And Toronto is simply not interested in having Amare take up a third of their cap for the next 3 years.

Yes for everybody but the Raptors, but I could see Bryan Colangelo going for it.
But no, it's not even close value wise for Toronto, as flawed and "overpaid" as Bargnani is, you can't begin to explain how much better his contract and production for that money has been compared to Amar'e. Add in the fact that he hasn't had injury issues and that Amir is actually not useless, and Toronto has no reason to do this.

Hell I think they may be better off amnestying Bargnani than trading him for Amar'e..

Can't believe this received a few yes votes, very surprising.
