KOTB: MIN/TOR - Ross for Williams/Ridnour

Toronto gets:
Derrick Williams
Luke Ridnour
Minnesota gets:
Terrence Ross
Aaron Gray (expiring)
John Lucas III (expiring)
Why for Toronto? Derozan looks like the SG of the future which leaves Ross' long term minutes on the team in doubt. Williams' ability to play SF and PF makes him an easier fit, either as starting SF or Bargnani replacement of the future at PF
Why for Minnesota? They pick up a SG prospect who can fit 3s in Ross, which is an excellent fit beside Rubio and Shved. They also dump about 6.3 million of 2013-2014 salary

No for the Timberwolves.
Can't dribble and can't pass = can't play for Adelman.

Ross can dribble and pass

Toronto is pretty thin with talent at SG/SF so I don't see why they trade someone who they just drafted to help that out for someone who has no real position yet. So unless they are playing Williams at SF they're going to be stacked at PF and thin at SG.

But he just chooses not to or something?
0.4 APG and 0.1 FTA per game suggest otherwise
Even per 36 (1.6 apg and 0.4 FTA), his numbers are way below average.

Well this is a completely new idea that I havent ever seen from anybody. So I give you good marks for originality. I dont mind it for Toronto. Its not an earth-shattering move for them but Ridnour is good value at his contract and they swap a prospect behind a player they just commited to for a prospect behind a guy they seem to have soured on.
I would have hesitated mostly because I think Minny would prefer a more proven SG and now that Im hearing their fans say the coach wouldnt like this guy.... Im not going to vote no because I was wavering while reading the proposal but Im not saying 'yes' since I cant unread those Minny posts. Still I appreciate the new idea here.

I agree with Aquintus -- don't like the fit for the Wolves.

He's played very little and has mostly played off the ball taking spot up shots. I would say Ross right now has a problem driving north/south or driving to the rim, but looks decent putting the ball on the floor in regards to setting up jumpshots. His passing was pretty underrated at Washington and he has very strong court awareness and he looked pretty good passing in summer league
He's not going to be a guy that attacks the basket off the dribble for a few years just because he doesn't look comfortable doing it (he needs to get stronger for one thing) but I don't think he's a Wes Johnson case of "oh noes" anytime he puts the ball on the floor. I think a SG version of Budinger might actually be one of the best comparisons for Ross right now, with more potential off the dribble as he develops

With Lowry and Calderon, what the hell are the Raptors supposed to do with Ridnour?

Id easily do it. It gets us player with upside at a position of need and sheds salary so we can sign Pek.

Play him at combo guard off the bench.
It is a solid idea, but I think Minny says no. In the least, they wait until Love is back healthy.

Nope, we can't afford to lose Luke and Dwill for a rookie who hasn't shown he can produce.
Luke alone does more for us than Ross can. Interesting concept though.

Ridnour and Williams for Afflalo? Sure. Not for Ross though.

I don't get the thinking for Toronto. They just drafted Ross at #8, at a bit of a reach even. Now they'll just decide they have too many swingmen? They shouldn't have drafted Ross in the first place then.

According to storyteller, Aaron Gray has a player option for 2013-14 for $2.7 mil .. he's not an expiring.

I like this deal if Raps include Ed Davis instead of Aaron Gray

I would do this. Ross and Ed Davis and Lucas III for Derrick Williams and Rid. sounds good actually.
Getting Rid sets us up for a bigger move in trading Jose and maybe Bargnani. I love the idea of a Demar and D Williams 2/3 punch. Yes D Will is a 3/4, but I think he will fit well in the 3 spot with the Raps.
