Jazz In: Gallinari
Jazz out: Millsap

Why for Utah: The two players are perhaps on the same level, good starters not all-stars. However Utah has an overcrowded frontcourt with Millsap, Jefferson, Favors and Kanter with the last two showing promise and needing more time. They get a very good player for one that they want to move because they probably can't resign.

Denver out: Gallinari, Chandler.
Denver in: Gasol, Lakers first pick.

Why for Denver: They take a gamble on Gasol. They hope that he needs a change of scenary and more touches in the post. Gasol and Faried is a very good frontcourt which could really mesh well, with McGee to close the big man rotation. Gasol gives them a post option in the halfcourt to improve their game. They get thin at SF but they get out of Chandler's contract, who has been looking bad to start the season. They still have Iggy, Brewer, and if needed may develop more Hamilton and Miller. They try to imporve in the short run and also get a pick in the process. If the experiment doesn't work, next year Gasol is a huge expiring.

Lakers out: Gasol, first pick.
Lakers in: Millsap, Chandler.

Why for LA: They get younger and more dinamyc. They have too many stars and need more good role players. Millsap is a very good fit. Good defender, can shoot the jumper, play the P&R and doesn't need high maintenance. Chandler has looked bad this year but they hope he can recover and he provides extra depth can play the three, and in stretches, the 2 and the 4. Millsap contract ends this year so they can see how is he working with the team, but does not ruin their 2014 plan. Chandler may be more problematic, but his contract can probably moved in the future.

I hope it is good, i think there can be a lot of tweaks to the proposal, and even if this incarnation will not get enough yes it could be improved.

The Jazz already have Marvin Williams so they would be better off getting a PG or picks/young players for Millsap. Unless you include a Williams to another team trade so they dont have a logjam at SF.

as is though KOTB no, no need for Utah. Yes from both other teams though.

Maybe this deal actually but with Ma.Williams going to Denver also for Koufos, Fournier (filler?) and the LA pick?

Utah get a solid 5 with a decent contract to backup Kanter/Favors. Will be needed, especially if they let Jefferson expire. Also get another asset in Fournier.
Mo.Williams, Hayward, Gallinari, Favors, Koufos/Kanter.

Denver get rid of Koufos who isnt needed with Gasol and add another decent bench player.

This trade is quite terrible for denver both from a fit and value standpoint. I like it for the lakers, the value and fit are great. I like it for the jazz value wise, it creates a SF logjam, but the value is still smokin good.

I think Gallinari is quite a bit better than Willimas, he is what the jazz hoped Willimas could be. Can stretch the floor, get to the line, good passer and solid defender. It doesn't solve all Jazz issues but i think it still helps, especially considering that you may still lose Paul for nothing.

As i said there are quite a lot of variations, I had another one where Williams was going to the Lakers instead of Chandler who was going to Utah and then some fillers to compelete the trade.

We'd just cut UTAH and get Gallo/Chandler ourselves. And I don't think we still have first round picks still.

Yes. I think all teams are improved in the short term, and the Lakers and Jazz are better off long term as well. Needs to be tweaked to leave Denver with more depth at SF.

Utah would be silly to not accept this immediately, but they would never be at the table in the first place. Why would Denver and LA get Utah involved when they bring nothing of value to the table? Gallo would be an incredible stretch 4 in a D'Antoni system, I know that he isn't really a PF, but in our system and next to Howard it would work incredibly well. From a Lakers perspective I don't really like Chandler, and would ask for Brewer and Koufos instead, not sure how Denver would feel about that.

Of course we still have one problem, and I believe that would be the fact that Denver hung up the phone, not mad, but just not willing to pull the trigger on this, and seeing no way that the Lakers can send any future assets to make it worth their time (the Lakers can't trade a 1st any earlier than 2019). They probably said to call back when we are able to find a way to flip Gallo for a PF good enough for us to pull the trigger on, and a 2013 1st for them, or some other equivalent future value.

So in the end KOTB: No

Vote No, Denver is not going to trade for Gasol, especially when giving up their 2 best small forwards.
