Vote: I know this won't count, but I'm voting for Anthony Davis even though he's not nominated. I think he has more overall value than everyone listed. If Rose wasn't hurt I probably would've voted for him.
Nominate: I guess I'm also nominating Anthony Davis.

I highly suggest you put age + salary information next to the pictures of each nominee. It'll help the voters out alot.
Chris Paul with one year 15 million left is alot different than Chris Paul locked into a 4 year deal. Some voters (like me) arent gonna bother with going to different websites to check out the information.
This one is tough. I think i'm gonna go with
Kyrie Irwing(young, cheap, good)
Anthony Davis

Vote Kyrie Irving. Irving and Davis would be my #3/#4. Irving is a little more proven so far.
Nominate Anthony Davis.

VOTE: Derrick Rose. Young, great attitude, great off-the-court, true superstar
(Irving at #3? He may look like he may become a superstar, but c'mon - that's no guarantee. Superstars are just too hard to get, and to valuable a quantity in the nba to annoint someone now, even locked into a good salary). Seeing Irving this early makes me wonder how well Tyreke Evans placed in this thread his rookie year?
NOMINATE: Ricky Rubio. Maybe I'm still in the glow of watching him do amazing things last night, (hit a guy in stride passing between his own legs and an defender?!), but I think he has the potential to be in the teens here as a potential franchise player. He already has the publicity and international appeal to make him a GM's best friend for ticket sales and marketing. And of course, he's very young and on that cheap deal.

Rose is coming off a major injury. With his game relying so heavily on athleticism, nobody know what he's gonna look like back on the court. We could have a grant hill situation on our hand. And he has that super max tied to his contract...
Obviously if he's healthy he would be #3. But he hasn't played a game yet.

That's a good point - and consider me scared by the words "Grant Hill."

Vote: Irving
Maybe he's not a full fledged superstar, but he is as close as any second year player on a bad team. His clutch scoring is a big influence on my decision.
Nom: Davis
Rookie contracts favor heavily for me. This is very clearly not voting for the best player, or who should win an MVP award, but specifically who has the most trade value.

Hasn't Irving had several injuries now dating back to college each season?

He's healthy
now. And we've SEEN him play well despite his past injuries.
Athleticism and speed is 90% of rose's game. I'm not ready to vote Rose in the top 5 until i see him move on the court.

I agree about Rose, I was more asking if we should be more concerned about Irving's injuries.
I write up on SB Nation that doesn't include the broken jaw...
http://www.sbnation.com/2012/11/20/3671 ... -cavaliersINJURY 1: In a game against Butler on Dec. 9, Irving drove hard to the basket and landed awkwardly on his right foot. He left the game for a while, came back in briefly, then left the game for good in the second half. The next day, coach Mike Krzyzewski said that Irving had "a serious injury." It turned out that he tore several ligaments in his right big toe. Irving sat out for a while before returning in a limited state for the NCAA Tournament. He was then limited during the pre-draft workout circuit before the Cavaliers selected him No. 1 overall in the 2011 NBA Draft. The ongoing lockout allowed him to rehab slowly, and eventually, his foot got right.
INJURY 2: Irving's stellar start to his rookie year was derailed when he crashed into Dwyane Wade's knee during a February game against the Miami Heat. Irving was treated for a concussion and missed over a week of action. Total freak injury.
INJURY 3: A seemingly minor shoulder injury in a late-March game nagged Irving enough for him to miss several games down the stretch. In Irving's defense, it wasn't like there was much for the Cavaliers to play for at this point.
INJURY 4: Frustrated by a sequence in a Team USA Select Team Cavaliers practice, Irving went to the wall at the end of the floor and slapped his hand hard on padding. Somehow, he ended up breaking his hand. He had surgery a few days later and returned for training camp.
INJURY 5: Irving suffered a hairline fracture in his left index finger during last Saturday's game against the Dallas Mavericks. X-rays were negative, so he played the next night against the Philadelphia 76ers and had by far the worst game of his season. Eventually, he got an MRI, which revealed the news. A hairline fracture is the kind of injury that can become far worse when reaggravated, so the Cavaliers want to sit Irving down for two weeks, then reevaluate from there. Most likely, he'll miss a month.

I vote Kyrie Irving, and quite handily. Because his value is the same to both rebuilding and win-now teams. Any team would pay out the ass to get him, and rightly so.
nominate: Anthony Davis
