Still Gasol. Hes not an exciting flashy player but still what an elite combonation of size and skill and he's still relatively young. I hadnt been a huge believer in Paul George and always thought he was a bit over-hyped by Pacers fans. I believe now and he's the toughest omission for me here.
So many interesting players to nominate. I think Ive about talked myself into the last 2x so its time for MKG to get my nomination.
Vote: MArc Gasol
Nom: MKG

V: Andre Drummond
The reason I didn't vote for a PG is because the league is saturated with quality PGs. Big men are another thing. Drummong is a physical specimen with talent. He is yours for potentially the next 9 years.. 4 on a reasonable rookie contract, up to 5 more if you make him your 5 year player. 9 years of potentially the most dominant big man in the game is hard to pass up.
N: Brook Lopez
#5 in PER. #1 in points in the paint, #1 among centers for scoring and he plays less than 30 minutes a game. Defensively he's turned into an enforcer down low with excellent rim protection. The other night in Phoenix he had a terrible offensive game but the highest +/- on the team and the Suns were 18-57 when he was on the floor.. 13-22 when he wasn't. The Suns were just 2-13 from within five feet with Lopez on the court, and 2-10 when Lopez was directly involved in the play.

Kobe Bryant
Vote: Marc Gasol (Paul George is close)
Kobe makes half the salary cap, no player at his age is worth half my cap. Dwight Howard's contract situation makes his trade value a lot lower, simply because trading for him would be a highly risky move today. Wade's health, age, and contract size limits the amount of teams that would trade for him. The other players simply aren't that close to Gasol's value IMO. Gasol gives you an elite center (elite in today's standards) on a relatively reasonable contract and a good age. This combination makes him a player that any team would trade for and can use, either for rebuilding or immediate contention. There is simply too big of a hole at the center position, and especially big boys for Gasol's value to be any lower.
Nominate: MKG!!!!!

V: Kobe Bryant
Texas in the last thread did have a good point about the NTC, but at the end of the day it doesn't detract from Kobe's value persay, but rather the likelihood of trading of him. To me that's different. Yes, he makes a crapload of money, but it's only for two more years, he's not going to wear down in that timespan ( if at all, given his durability), and he's still the best shooting guard in the league, a top 10 player at worst and more like a top 5 and easily the best player left on this list, and he has the marketability. Gasol, Wade, and Curry to me are good choices as well, and I could be convinced to one of those three, especially Wade since he'll be my next vote after Kobe.
N: Tim Duncan.

Have to agree on Kobe.
-28m salary
-no trade clause
-end of career
-"worth more to us and than you" as in the Lakers would ask an obscene amount for him and talks wouldn't go anywhere.
-A team would have to gut their team for him and then he wouldn't want to go there like supposedly happened with Chicago years back

How did George (17 PPG, 3 APG, and 7.5 RPG) get nominated over Holiday (19 PPG, 9 APG, and 4 RPG) along with Holiday's elite defense and interms of contract Holiday (9 million) compared to George next year getting most likely more.

My logic was this... PG is loaded.. can't remember the last time it was this deep. That alone makes the market for PG smaller than other positions. I can't think of many teams really in the market for a PG and you've got decent ones even on the bench.. in Lowry, Bledsoe, Sessions, etc.
George is a SF that can play SG as well. His talent seems much more rare at his position. He has amazing height and athleticism. He is leading a team that is playing excellent despite missing who was their best player.

Think i'm getting a broader grasp on how this is working, albeit one would ideally wish for more encompassing details.
V: Lillard (might fluctuate from # to #)
N: Holiday (until he gets nominated)

Been flip flopping a bit lately. I'll go with Deron. It's obvious Avery micro-managing him was responsible for most of his drop-off statistically in NJ/BKN. He's a true perenn all-star talent at 28 and locked up for a while. I regret not voting for him over Griffin, Love and LMA
Vote Deron Williams
Nominate Derrick Favors

pft. tons of power forwards under contract can put up 18/8 as the third option on an elite team...
