Thomas Robinson

Thomas Robinson has already been traded once in his rookie season and with Houston immediately going into win now immediately and their weakest position is stacked in this FA class.
Will Houston trade him? Surely Morey knows his value is pretty low but he is a great GM and would get something of value (pick) whilst freeing up capspace and flexibility.
What would it take in your opinion to acquire Thomas Robinson?
5/5 in 15 minutes on 43 percent.
Could the Bobcats trade their Portland pick (#13) for him? or Jeffery Taylor+Pick 13?

Knowing Morey he traded for him because he either wanted him as a keeper or he was collecting an asset to potentially put into a bigger deal. I cant imagine he would turn around and flip him for a late-lotto pick. Makes no sense.

It makes perfect sense if you think you can get a better player, or an equal player that's a better fit, in the late lotto then obviously you make that trade. Personally I think if Houston get's a opportunity to deal T-Rob for a late lotto, they should do it.
For me the problem with T-Rob is two fold. (1) he was overdrafted in the first place, and (2) his skill set doesn't fit a Houston PF. That means he'll basically be the back-up center for the next year, where he'll put up very good per minute stats.

He's a rookie who hasnt played at all and was in the worst possible situation in Sacramento. You may somehow magically know exactly what he's going to turn into but I'll admit I dont know. Its amazing to me how quick some people are to label players busts. I guess Nash sucked because he wasnt good until his 5th year.....

There are so many variables in play for the Rockets this off-season. Pretty much anything could happen.
However I do not expect Robinson to get traded for a draft pick. If he does get dealt I think it'll be during the free agency period in some type of sign&trade either by himself or in a package an All-Star caliber player.

Not sure what the plans for Thomas Robinson, but I doubt he is flipped for a pick unless its part of a package for a marquee player.

I guess that Houston would trade Robinson for #13. It saves money and gives them a fresh start for a (albeit lower) lottery pick.

It makes no sense for Charlotte to trade for him, and it makes even less sense to trade a mid 1st for him. I would think it would make more sense for Houston to hang onto him while his value is so low.

Why not for us? I agree with the last bit about Houston though, unless they're looking at free agency, as explained below.
I was a huge opponent of drafting T-Rob at #2 and while he's been disappointing so far, it's his rookie season. He's averaging a double double per 36 and he was the #5 pick (roughly where I thought he should have gone- didn't think he was #2 worthy) in a strong draft for a reason. Would I trade a mid-first in a weaker draft for him? Easily. Would I include Jeff Taylor? Reluctantly, but Robinson would likely be our starter of the future at the 4.
For Houston, they got a MAJOR steal getting Robinson for scrubs, but I can see Morey valuing him quite high. The only reason Robinson would be moved is in a salary dump if they are indeed going to try to make a run at an elite FA or two. This would be an ideal scenario, as they save roughly $3M, still get solid value, and their rotation at the 3 would be Parsons and Taylor, both solid two-way players with potential, making less than $1M apiece.

The best bet is him being dealt as an asset in a package - or for a max player.
The free agents are all candidates in S&T.
Plus, maybe some surprising options:
LAldridge (14, 15) - TRob, Tjones, etc. - doubtful but who knows.
Granger (14) - TRob (or Parson) and TJones, plus option players if wanted - I see this as possible - makes sense for all.
TParker (12.5, 12.5) - TRob, TJones (or RWhite) and Lin. - Would be surprising but if Duncan retires then this makes sense to kickstart the rebuild.
Dirk (23) - Dallas will have cap room, but if they cannot rebuild then why not. Plus, hard for Houston to take 23 mil because it means adding just one player instead of two.
Horford (12, 12, 12) - doubtful, but again, TRob plus TJones would be something to discuss (probably not go anywhere but ok to discuss).

Like the other Rockets fans here I think that it is highly unlikely that the team would trade Robinson for a mid-round draft pick in this year's class.
Robinson is definitely raw, but there is potential there. The guy has barely been able to practice with this team, so I'd rather see how he looks with a full off-season/pre-season as part of an organization that will try to maximize his potential.
I don't think that it is wise to give up on a top-5 pick after just a few months.

I would be fairly surprised if Morey blew a ton of space on Granger, who hasn't played this season, and makes 14 mil. I would be further surprised, and elated, if he threw us TRob or Parsons and Terrence Jones. I love Granger, but his value is definitely not 2 lotto picks or 1 lotto pick and one of the best bargains in the league + cap space.
Especially where you've got the same deal basically, minus the possibility of Parsons and space even, for Tony Parker.

No chance Parsons gets traded for Granger. Highly doubt moving Robinson to get Granger would get entertained, either.

Really hoping the Rockets can flip him before he's officially deemed a bust. He is just not a good basketball player and would have to come a LONG way to ever become one, so I'm hoping we can get something decent for him before all the high draft pick shine wears off. A guy Morey has scouted and targeted in the late lotto would be just fine with me.

Robinson isn't playing much, yes Houston is a competitive team, but they aren't exactly super deep at the 4/5 positions. He hasn't exactly taken the world by storm. Hes a 4 with poor shooting numbers and really not much showing beyond rebounding.
This person is talking about trading the rights to Portlands pick for that. I can't see Houston making a move with Robinson that would make sense for Charlotte.

I think Houston is in a great position with arguably the best GM in the league and have managed to rebuild while never dropping below .500 and managing to land a 23 year old superstar for a bag of chips.
They also landed a rookie #5 pick for next to nothing (value wise)
Houston will be THE major players in free agency and Morey will want as much cap space as possible.
They will have these options for a big-In no particular order-
Howard
Bynum
Smith
Millsap
Pekovic
Jefferson
Trading a late lotto pick + Jeffery Taylor is good business in terms of a salary dump, Robinson is not going to get them over the hump and in a redraft would be lucky to go top ten.

I don't think Robinson value is that low especially for this upcoming weaker draft. He is a rookie. Not really feasible to expect all rookies to perform right away. He hasn't been terrible in Hou. He would be the perfect energy big for Houston next year. Plays with energy, rebounds, and had a decent jump shot in college.
Only trading him for upgrades would make sense. Not for a crap shoot in the mid lotto.

Odds are he goes through the system, while Motiejounas starts getting showcased on the court. Motiejounas gets flipped for a good piece and Trob slides into the rotation.
Rinse and repeat.

Think about this for a second, your Houston , you have the 5th pick in the draft in Thomas Robinson, Char calls and says there interested, why would Houston ask for a late lotto pick as oppose to Charlotte's top pick? i like the idea of Charlotte going after Robinson with their young core, but they'll have to give up more than their scraps. i think it begins with either Char pick or Henderson+13th pick if i'm Houston
