Which team says no?
(edited original post to change Monroe to Josh Smith)
Chicago
Out: Deng
In: Dragic, PJ Tucker, Kyle Singler, Indiana 2014 first
Detroit
Out: Josh Smith, Singler
In: Deng
Phoenix
Out: Dragic, Tucker, Indiana 2014 first
In: Josh Smith
Detroit basically can end the Josh Smith at 3 experiment, get out of the huge contract, get Deng instead to plug in at 3, and if it works, re-sign him in the offseason and if not, let him walk or S&T him

Deng is overrated? I think he is actually probably underrated. Isn't he an all star? It seems like Detroit could us a guy like Deng...a vet who has been deep into the playoffs and knows how to compete.
But it does seem like many fans want their teams to get potential, even if that potential never delivers.

i'd trade josh smith for Deng. Deng is a good player, but he's role player, he's not allstar, and he's not dominate. Why would detroit trade moose for a arguable minor improvement. He doesn't take us over any hump. You can't hype a guy and all your bring is "playoff experience and how to compete". this is the NBA, players don't need to learn how to compete

I didn't realize Pistons' fans would rather have Monroe than Josh Smith.

I love it for the Suns.
The Bulls probably do it depending on how the salaries work out for them.
I just can't see how you convince Detroit to pull the trigger, though.
Monroe is clearly more valuable than Deng, yet some how Deng ends up netting the picks and prospects while Detroit gives up Monroe for Deng alone. I can't see them biting, but maybe it's just me.
It's great for the Suns combining assets into one player - we get a bargain here for sure.

Yeah, maybe the pick should go to Detroit. The problem with Monroe and Josh Smith is that neither can play 3 successfully. They are desperate to make the playoffs. A Deng, Josh Smith, Drummond front court seems pretty devastating.
I added the pick because I had posted it on the Bulls board first and they said if a first round pick was thrown in, they'd do it.
Edit: I changed the original post from Monroe to Smith which might make more sense

The Suns wouldn't and shouldn't trade assets for Josh Smith.

Well, I don't think it would make them good enough for the playoffs this year, and right now they probably won't get any better than the 8th pick anyway (probably more like 10th-12th) so it really wouldn't do much for them now, but it could help for the future. They still would have 2-3 picks in the top 20 now.
Before, I was hoping they had a shot to get a top 3 pick, but there are so many teams that are blatantly tanking or just flat out terrible, that the Suns are not going to get into some sort of tanking competition where they sit players and don't compete. So they can still get lucky in the lotto and get a top 3 pick, but this doesn't do too much to change their outlook this year. No matter what, they likely finish between 11th and 14th in the west, with about 7 eastern teams with records worse than anyone but Utah. So likely the other six lotto teams in the west other than Utah will pick 9-14.

I can't believe Suns fans want to ruin the "clean" slate by trading for Josh Smith.
It'll affect the development of the young players... And everyone would want him traded away at some point after he starts affecting ball movement.
Say NO to Josh Smith...
Suns are rebuilding.. No need to take a risk and ruin it.

I want the Suns to get unselfish players so that players like Bledsoe, Goodwin and Len eventually reach their potential by getting touches offensively.
If the Suns had to get a star player... Lebron James is number 1.
If the Suns had to trade for someone... It'll be for a SF who can shoot and play make.. And that's Hayward.
I rather Hayward at 11-12 million than Josh Smith at the same money.

Deng is underrated, but no way DET does this unless they know they have him after this year.

As good as it is with Monroe in it for the Suns, there's no way we even consider it if you swap him for Smith. We have absolutely no interest in Josh Smith and his chucking. The dude is an extremely talented 2 way player, but it's unfortunate for him, the Pistons and the league that he's never going to GET IT.
Not only that but he doesn't fit in with our plans, at all. Monroe does because he's young and talented and has a good head on his shoulders. That's the type of player we want to build around, not an older overpaid star that thinks he's Dirk when in reality he can't shoot worth a lick.

Speak for yourself. I would dump Smith for expirings at this point. He is NOT a SF and has been horrible on both ends of the floor this year.
Detroit does this trade without question.

I actually don't really want Josh Smith that much, and that is why originally it said Monroe. But after responses I decided to alter the trade and see people's viewpoints. I wouldn't mind him, but I prefer the slower rebuild with younger players, and agree I'd rather have Hayward (but I don't think the Suns can get him).

Detroit's probably willing to deal Monroe, but not for just Deng (and potentially only one year of Deng at that).
Smith would be dealt much more easily, as it lets the team try again with FA dollars -- Smoove clearly was a mistake if Monroe stays.

No thanks, would rather trade moose and get back more talent that fits this team better.I actually really like deng and if we could also get him without getting rid of smith and monroe(moose goes to a different team to recieve back pieces)I would be all over it.
