KOTB: Raptors/Heat

Post#1 » by Karmaloop » Wed Dec 11, 2013 5:47 am

Note: Trade occurs after December 15th.

If you think both teams do this, say yes. If not, no. Please add reasoning as well.

Toronto Raptors Receive:
PG Mario Chalmers
C Joel Anthony
2014 1st Round Pick (from Heat)

Miami Heat Receive:
PG Kyle Lowry
SF Austin Daye

WHY FOR THE RAPTORS?

The tank is on, and it's clear that Kyle Lowry is the next to go. The problem is he's an expiring contract, so unless a team is willing to give an extension as part of a trade his value is going to be limited. Or they'll need a team who needs a PG upgrade and is competing for a title that's willing to let Lowry get to free agency. Anthony is overpaid, but he expires the same year as Amir Johnson and Landry Fields. They get a 1st in this year's deep draft.

WHY FOR THE HEAT?

The Heat aren't getting enough production from their point guard spot, so they make a move for Lowry. He might not be the ideal fit, but he's a better player and he's an expiring contract. They do manage to unload Joel Anthony's contract as well.

I don't think Chalmers makes a ton of sense for Toronto. He's got a bit of an attitude and would be pissed about being traded to Tdot. He'd probably walk at the end of the year. Don't see the value for Toronto. Taking Anthonys corpse probably costs Miami's first, which makes this return pretty ****.

Since there's no guarantee that Miami receives the 76ers' pick, they can't send out a 2014 1st since the Cavs already own their 2015 pick. Have to send out the 76ers' pick.
