KOTB: Raptors/Heat
Posted: Wed Dec 11, 2013 5:47 am
Note: Trade occurs after December 15th.
If you think both teams do this, say yes. If not, no. Please add reasoning as well.
Toronto Raptors Receive:
PG Mario Chalmers
C Joel Anthony
2014 1st Round Pick (from Heat)
Miami Heat Receive:
PG Kyle Lowry
SF Austin Daye
WHY FOR THE RAPTORS?
The tank is on, and it's clear that Kyle Lowry is the next to go. The problem is he's an expiring contract, so unless a team is willing to give an extension as part of a trade his value is going to be limited. Or they'll need a team who needs a PG upgrade and is competing for a title that's willing to let Lowry get to free agency. Anthony is overpaid, but he expires the same year as Amir Johnson and Landry Fields. They get a 1st in this year's deep draft.
WHY FOR THE HEAT?
The Heat aren't getting enough production from their point guard spot, so they make a move for Lowry. He might not be the ideal fit, but he's a better player and he's an expiring contract. They do manage to unload Joel Anthony's contract as well.
