Vote - Chris Paul - Without a doubt the third best player in the game signed for a few more years. Makes any team an instant playoff team.

Nominate - Damian Lillard - Rookie contract for 2 more years after this. He is also the 2nd best player on one of the best teams in the NBA.

Vote Chris Paul

The best player and has the age/style of play to be in his prime the extent of it

Nominate Kevin Love

Him and LMA are close, but from a "highest offer wins, not most consistent offers" perspective I will vote Love

Vote - CP3: Absolutely incredible with the basketball.

Nominate - LaMarcus Aldridge: Signed for a less than max contract, arguably the best PF in the NBA and the best player on one of the NBA's best teams.

Sounds right to me. I think there are strong arguments for Curry and Dwight as well as Paul. And for Blake even. And I would not be surprised to see Paul fall from here. Still, going to go with:
V: Paul
N: Love

V: Curry
N: Love

Curry's not the player CP3 is, and I understand the injury concerns, but he's literally half the price contract wise.

Shouldn't age, contract and injuries be factored in?

Also, just out of curiosity but you were rather high on Lin (and Kobe) last year saying he should be very high on the list because of his marketing. Where do you think you would rank him this year?

Last year you gave us this:

That’s not to say teams don’t benefit from signing players with global appeal. Just look at Lin in New York. During the height of Linsanity in February, stock in the Madison Square Garden Company, owner of the Knicks, rose 15%. (By contrast, since the reports surfaced last week that the Knicks probably weren’t going to match Houston’s offer for Lin, the stock fell 9%). Lin’s popularity helped the MSG Network, which broadcasts Knicks games, break an impasse with one of its most important TV distributors, Time Warner Cable (Time Warner Cable was spun off in 2009 from Time Warner, TIME’s corporate parent.)

MSGC is worth $3.5 billion. 15% of that is about half a billion dollars.

Who knows the figure on the cable deal, but it's huge too.

Sure, age contract and injury history should all be factored in. I'm not sure how my quote implies that they do not. But teams win or lose based on production, and that's a big factor too. There is no way that with Love's production, and his ability to give a team two play-off runs under his current contract, he shouldn't be in the top 15 nominees.

As for marketing, I don't know enough about HOU's television deals with China, and whether Lin impacts them, to make a good call. Trade values change, and from my bad vantage point, it looks to me like Lin was a flash in the pan for trade value. Kobe still gets constant coverage - I imagine he's worth enough to the Lakers to justify his obscene salary. The MSG information demonstrates to me just how incredibly profitable the marketing arm could be.

Wait, if you are going to go bring that back up, can we re-address Dwight Howard having top 5 trade value in the league as a S&T? Lakers really squandered that asset.

Or a S&T of an unrestricted Dwight was never remotely worth near that.

Not denying that about Love.. though his ability to give a team two playoffs runs, is somewhat questionable considering he has yet to be to the playoffs. I can understand Paul being up there with his locked in contract, no recent injuries, and of course RS and PO production.

But your sole reason listed for voting for Love and Paul was based upon productivity, which was nearly the opposite logic you were applying last year when voting for Lin, and to a lesser extent Kobe.

I did not mean to imply this was my sole reason. Every poster could go into more depth on just about any topic they post on. If I say "I don't like Eric Gordon's trade value because of his injury history," it doesn't mean his production is no factor whatsoever. I will say that for these four guys. I was talking about their strongest feature, IMO.

Also, since I'm already qualifying my word choices, I left too much room for confusion in another area. I didn't mean to imply that Love gets a team to two playoffs- I meant that if a team acquires Love, he is on the roster helping them in two play-off runs.
