Drummond Value

Can Drummond be had for a combo of Cousins and Oladipo? Before I get into any trades involving Detroit, I need to understand his value. Is he more valuable than Cousins straight up? I understand he may be unattainable in real life, but this is the trade board, after all.

Thanks for the input.

I'm not sure how you're combining Cousins and Dipo, but I'd have to think Detroit would do that.

I'll show you. Can I create a new trade thread considering it's a different topic, or should I post it here?

I'm assuming Drummond is going to the Magic and not the Kings? If that's the case, I wonder if cutting out the Kings makes more sense? Because their fans are going to put the focus of the discussion on why they aren't trading Boogie.

Here goes nothing...

Tolliver
Gay
Caspi
Orlando OUT:

I can tell you right now that this would never work for the Kings.

Welp. darn. I tried to do it without Gay, but couldn't get it to work. Thanks.

Does Jennings to Sac instead of Orlando change things? Or is it just not fixable for Sac?

Well Cousins is worth a lot more than Vuc + Gordon. And Tobias isn't worth more than Gay+Casspi imo. So the value just seems really light for the Kings. I think you have to add SuperMario and probably your 2016 1st. And then you have to decide if you wouldn't be better off just keeping Cousins for yourself.

Interesting. I'd think Drummond is untouchable. He is 22 (vs 25 for DMC). DMC is better offensively but more of an overall risk. I'd do Drummond for DMC + 2016 #1 (unprotected) + 2018 #1 (unprotected).

You can't get that imo. Yeah there is more risk, but there is really no question that Cousins is the superior player. I love Drummond, but Boogie is better and he's young enough that the age thing doesn't matter that much.

Drummond is three years younger, in a more favorable contract situation, is not a problem, and still has growing to do. I wouldn't trade him for Cousins, particularly with the chemistry the Pistons are trying to build.

Makes sense.

Yeah not trading Drummond for Cousins. Cousins is superior overall but Drummond is still a beast, younger, will be on a longer contract, great attitude and teammate compared to Cousins. I just don't see the incentive especially considering we will probably be dealing with drama of him leaving as a UFA 2 years from now where Drummond will be locked in for the next 5 and possibly beyond.

DET will want extra value to trade Drummond for Cousins ... and they're right to.

SAC will want extra value to trade Cousins for Drummond ... and they're right to.

These two are, IMHO, hands down, the top two centers in the league already, and they're the ripe old ages of 25 and 22. It's a noble effort by ORL to sneak into the deal and try to steal one of 'em with some of their assets (which I grant you are good ones), but it just aint gonna fly; the cost for either Drummond or Cousins is just too prohibitively high at this point.

Thank you all for the positive criticism, and not just throwing smart ass remarks around to make your point.

Naturally; I think we all appreciate a good dialogue about reasonable ideas!

And for the record, I really like a lot of ORL's assets and completely get your strategy of trying to consolidate a number of them into a superstar (especially a big man). I just think, like Chuck said, you'd have to more or less empty your cupboard to get either Cousins or Drummond ... plus, one of DET or SAC would need to decide, "Screw it, we're blowing everything up and starting from scratch!" to trade their guy, and neither franchise appears to be at that point at the moment.

Wait a minute....people think Sacramento would need to add value to Cousins to trade him for Drummond straight up? Cousins so far superior on offense it more than makes up the difference on defense. And rebounding is fairly close. I'll give the attitude issues. We all know that is a risk with Cousins.

But in no way would, or should, the Kings add picks. Especially not for a guy who is going to be getting a Max deal this summer.

This isn't a knock on Drummond. I'd take him in a heartbeat. But he's getting a Max contract and Cousins is locked up for at least a couple more years on a lower number. That has to be factored in.
