Deng, McRoberts, and Andersen for Joe Johnson

http://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/6650412

Miami can add a 2nd (2017:31-40, 2018 (if ATL ges 2017))

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=p6l6dvj

Brooklyn saves $4.2M in salary and goes beneath the luxury tax line.
Miami cannot resign Deng anyhow. Green & Winslow will have to share SF duties.

Interesting, but what's the tax issues for Miami this season?

Huge, but JJ gives us another go to guy for our second team. We need to take advantage of this short time we have with Wade and Bosh. With two open roster spaces we can add a d-league player and a buyout later in the year. I'm sure that some will be screaming to add Beasley though, so maybe this isn't such a good idea. ;-)

It would be a tragedy if Miami isn't good enough to make the playoffs. Nothing is for certain in the East. Some decent teams are going to miss the playoffs.

Johnson is the only one that is surely is made available by Brooklyn. The idea of trade between Brooklyn and Miami is nice too but would be better with a bit of twist.

Johnson and Larkin for Dragic, McRoberts and Andersen.

Miami get themselves out from their commitment with Dragic while Brooklyn should be grateful that they get Dragic as their new point guard. Now Miami erased a max contract from their next season's cap sheet so they could resign Whiteside. Larkin should be decent enough to substitutes Dragic's production for Miami.

I kind of feel that Miami is better with Deng for defense or is Winslow ready to play starters minutes on a playoff team?

Why? Joe Johnson can play SF. We have Gerald Green & Justise Winslow too. We have to make a change and Deng is our best trade asset.

We also have Gerald Green (SF/SG) and Tyler Johnson (who can play SG). Also, we'd have two roster spaces for adding help from the D-League. I think Joe Johnson could help Miami. Deng is a good player, but he isn't the right player. It's too bad because he is a great influence on the younger fellows, very dedicated & hard-working, the kind of player you need in the playoffs. Like we are, though, that won't be an immediate problem. We need more options for scoring.

Yeah, I don't see that happening for a number of reasons from Minnesota's side. Plus, that deal doesn't work salary-wise so it's dead without having to argue on the wisdom of trading for a player with a scary injury history who is on a very large contract (which technically applies to both Pek and Lopez and it would be a mistake to trade young talent for either).

What reasons? Lavine has that kind of value? Brook Lopez plus unloading pek (who don't people think might have terrible contract that you'd have to pay to unload?)

Minnesota really likes LaVine and he fits age wise with Wiggins/Towns, so moving him for a high risk center is more of a gamble than the Wolves should be taking at this point. A second reason is that the Wolves have Towns and Dieng at center (and Pek in limited minutes), so adding Lopez doesn't really address an area of need. In addition, I think there is a pretty good chance the Wolves end up drafting another PF or C with their top 5 pick which would make the front court even more crowded and means there is even less reason to acquire Lopez. A third reason is that while Pek is still a negative contract, there is some hope that he can play himself back closer to neutral value (much as Lopez did after his last injury), so trading for another center with an equally bad injury history who is making $19.5M more over the next two years doesn't seem like a wise choice.

Minnesota is still in the rebuilding stage and letting their guys find themselves, they have time to just let Pek expire, they don't need to use a nice asset like Lavine to dump him.
