FAQs
Since posting I've been getting a lot of the same questions, so I figured I would post a little FAQ.
Updates
1. Do you plan to keep updating the sheets?
I've been updating them for over a decade now. I have no plans to stop, as it is a key tool for me. I will continue to post the sheets as long as there is interest from the community at large!
Edits
1. Are you going to allow edits to the Google Doc?
At this time I have no intention of that. Mainly due to integrity issues. I have no challenge with copying the data and editing it yourself, but I don't want the public version of the sheet to get messy.
Salary Sheets
1. Why are some things highlighted in yellow?
These are salary items which have some kind of variable. Either the salary number is not official or I haven't been able to track down the exact number yet. In most cases, these will disappear after the cap is set and everything locks in. New contract estimates will also be in yellow until I have the official numbers.
Free Agents Alpha List
1. How do players get on the Free Agents Alpha list?
Every player on the list has either: played in the NBA, played with an NBA team in Summer League, gone to training camp with an NBA team, was mentioned as a prospect for the NBA Draft, or played in the NBA D-League
2. How do players get removed from the Free Agents Alpha list?
I remove a player once he has gone a year without playing professional basketball anywhere. In this case, if a player did not play anywhere in the 2015-2016 season, he has been removed. Exceptions are occasionally made for injured players.
3. Why are some players in green font on the Free Agents Alpha list?
Those players are currently signed to a contract with team outside of the United States.
4. Is the Free Agents Alpha list comprehensive?
Not even close. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of basketball leagues all over the globe. Accounting for every single player isn't something I wish to try to undertake! This list is players who have some relevance to the NBA, either in the recent past or potentially in the future.
I will add to these FAQs as new ones comes up.
Thanks again to everyone for the interest. We've had massive traffic, I've gotten a lot of questions from all over, and to be honest, it has blown me away. It makes me very happy that so many folks are so interested in my work.
If you have any questions, you can hit me up on here. Quoting a post works best so I see it. You can also PM. You can also get me on Twitter at @KeithSmithNBA
Thanks again!
