ORL gets: Jimmy Butler

CHI gets: Evan Fournier, Aaron Gordon, Mario Hezonja, 2017 1st (unprotected)

ORL tries to get better by swapping youth for a star. CHI finds the only team in the NBA willing to give up their young assets in exchange for Butler, who they are doubting is a star.

Darn it, voted Chicago but read the poll wrong. Chicago's not trading Butler for that.

Edited the poll to allow you to change your vote. Also removed protections on the pick to see if that matters at all for you.

then Orlando has Butler, Vuc, Ibaka and Biyombo as the headliners and Butler retires rather than play with that.

No way OP gets it done. Bulls can get a lot more from Celtics or Philly.

me thinks butler a bit over-rated...bulls might get more but as magic fan don't like whats left and hope don't do that trade...just hope lottery luck and grabe a top 3 pick this yr

I voted "both win," even though I believe the only star in the trade is Butler. I think Aaron Gordon has excellent potential, Fournier will be a starter for the Bulls, and the 2017 draft pick is a good asset. Add Payton and this is somewhat closer.

This gets the Magic a star to build around and it lets Chicago recharge. They don't look like they have enough, so this may a way they can move forward.

group magic could put together next yr might,might make 8th seed with butler then one more yr and he is gone...so are all magic youth and asets...cant make a trade like that..butler good for win now team...wont make magic win now team..same reason bulls would trade him..same reason magic cant trade all that for him

If it indeed takes this much to acquire Butler I hope Orlando stays FAR FAR away even though I know this is a simple case of over valuing Butler/under valuing Orlandos assets.

The pick isn't top 5 with Butler on Orlando. Payton right now projects to maybe be an average starter at best, and Fournier is about an average starter. Mario can't get on the court supposedly due to work ethic. I like Gordon a lot but don't know if him and a late lotto pick gets it done, and the rest isn't close to as good as Butler.

Yes, because none of those guys are anything more than average players and Hezonja is terrible, albeit young. There's a pretty simple reason the Magic are 20-33, their players aren't very good. A thousand cow's ears don't make a Prada handbag, and Hezonja being the 5th pick last year might have mattered in a deal during last year's draft.

Payton is not in the trade.

It's not so much about asking a high price, it's that Butler is a star player on the good contract that they don't have to trade. If they do trade him, the Bulls want potential going forward and that means draft picks or players who have shown promise. Gordon has shown some, but not enough to make the Bulls pull the trigger. The pick in this will be worse because Butler will make their draft spot higher.

The Bulls don't want to be Orlando 2.0.

really are you sure with all those players gone magic would win more this yr? really? cause bulls with butler only have 5 more wins then magic,,so don't put money on it

Fair enough. I don't think either team are good trade partners at this time.

This trade is Lose-Lose. CHI trades their star and ends up with nothing great in return. ORL gets a star but remains a fringe playoff team and is stuck on a treadmill.
