Ben Simmons for No. 1 Pick

It seems crazy. Why would Philly deal Simmons, who has yet to play, for the number one pick? Why would a team that has that slot not take Fultz?
Pretty simple answer. Most teams in position for the number 1 pick: Boston, Lakers, Suns, Orlando, Sacramento need a more ball dominant do-it-all forward than the in-coming PG. The one exception to that, the Philadelphia 76ers.
By making such a move, the Sixers can further simplify their young core and make sense of a future with Fultz running the show and Saric and Embid at the front court with Okafor as 6th man. That unit makes far more sense than trying to force fit Simmons into a position he is not, PG.
Meanwhile a team like Boston, LA, PHX, Orlando and Sacramento gets that needed go to wing/small big who can propel their teams to the next level.

Both teams say no in my opinion

I think Boston would heavily consider it. Thomas, Smart, Rozier - don't need another PG. They could use a small ball 4.

Or, stay the course and implement Simmons as PG a la Giannis and let Saric continue to play the point forward 4.
Simmons
Monk
Covington
Saric
Embiid

Simmons
Monk
Covington
Saric
Embiid
That would be my dream lineup

Why take a guy who is suppose to be a dream 4 in today's NBA and force him to play the 1. As good as Simmons is, Fultz is better at playing the 1 than he...I feel like you are just asking for problems at that point.

Both say no is my guess. after not being able to play with a foot injury I value a top 3 pick much higher than Simmons. I would guess Philly would rather stay the course with Simmons. Boston is still in BPA mode and Fultz can easily fit into the plans.

I think Sixers have every intention of having Simmons be their point-forward. The thought is intriguing though...

I'd prefer 4 cheap years of Fultz over 3 cheap years of Simmons, especially when considering his injury and slow recovery.
I'd also venture that Philly would have no interest. Id rather bet on the guy who knows my system than the guy who does not. Especially when they may be adding two top 6 or so picks already.

Simmons
Monk
Covington
Saric
Embiid
That lineup would have some trouble on the defensive end.

If Fultz is BPA and they're picking #1 overall, the Celtics aren't going to pass on him because of Smart or Rozier. Given ITs age and impending contract, I highly doubt Ainge let's him figure into his draft decision as well, especially when there's no reason the two couldn't play together.

Other teams say no. Philly might not like it either depending on where their pick lands, but Fultz is a better prospect than Simmons so they are probably OK with this trade.
Boston: Isaiah is undersized, getting older and due for a huge negative value contract soon. You could draft Fultz and groom him as a successor off the bench for a year, or trade Isaiah, or play him with Isaiah, or trade down for Jackson or something. I do see Simmons being a pretty good fit though so it wouldn't be a horrible idea.
Lakers: Russell is a combo guard anyway. Lakers 100% draft Fultz or Ball.
Suns: Bledsoe doesn't fit the timeline of the rest of their young guys that well, I think they draft Fultz and trade Bledsoe later or during the draft.
Magic: Elfrid Payton isn't the answer. Fultz has an extra year of rookie contract over Simmons. No reason not to draft him.
Kings: They need a point guard and they need a franchise player. They draft Fultz for sure.

The "dream" 4 in today's NBA can shoot the ball really well, Simmons can't (yet). It makes sense to have him play the 1 on offense because of his crazy good court vision and handles for a big. Playing him off-ball doesn't maximize his impact.

No chance. Fultz is 2 years younger, has a longer contract and IMO is a better prospect than Simmons.

Would much rather have the #1 pick this year.

First, Fultz is not even close the prospect that Simmons is/was. The only factor would be the injured foot for Simmons which would negate a trade on either end.
Don't see Philly doing this because the draft is stocked with guards and they would rather have Embiid and Simmons, with another prospect.
Saric is a stud 6th man.

I disagree I think Fultz and Ball are both better prospects than Simmons... and probably would be even if you excluded the injury issue for Simmons.

All else being equal I'd rate Fultz as being about the same level of prospect as Simmons. But, since Simmons now has a major injury history and has lost a year of development, I'd put Fultz's value significantly higher.

Simmons can't shoot. Until he can, there's no way you can say he's a better prospect than Fultz or Ball.

I totall agree. Plus the team with the #1 pick gets all the free marketing for ticket sales. Every article or newscast about draft is going to lead off with a big image of Fultz. That creates hype, sells tickets, and sells merchandise.
