Rubio-Butler-NY

Post#1 » by pipfan » Tue Jun 13, 2017 12:10 am

I think I have seen that NY has some interest in Rubio
I just read Minny might make a move for a guy like Holiday
Bulls need to blow it up

NY sends rights to #8 to Chic
NY gets Rubio and #16

Bulls send #16 to NY
send Butler to Minny
Bulls get #7, #8, Dunn, Aldrich (salary filler)

Minny gets Butler for Rubio, #7, Dunn

NY gets a PG to build with KP-fans would love him. They still get a first too

Bulls start over, build around Dunn, Tatum or Austin, and one of the 2 top bigs

Minny hopes Butler can draw Hoilday and Milsap (or Ibaka or even Taj)-they would have A TON of cap space
Holiday/Lavine/Jones
Wiggins/Lavine
Butler/Wiggins
Milsap/Towns
Towns/Dieng

That team would be #2 in the West and be a real threat, with plenty of upside

I think #7,#8, Dunn and Aldrich is a litle light for Chicago.

I really don't think the Knicks are trading down 8 spots for Rubio.

I think in this draft it's not as light as it appears. Just due to the depth, prospects with star potential like taatum, Isaac, monk, etc will still be around. In this draft I would say 7,8 carries at least equal value to pick 4 for instance. I think if I was a bulls fan I would prefer this pqckage to one centered around one high lotto pick.

I don't dislike the trade but think MN would likely have to part with a future pick, which provided it was catastrophe-protected I'd be fine with.

I thought of a future first from Minny too-probably gonna be late.

As for NY, this is obviously only if they want Rubio. He is not that old

I like the concept of this trade.

For CHI, I agree with Trippinskario that #7 and #8 in this draft give you two bites at the apple (and Dunn a nibble), for two years of Butler. I probably wouldn't do the deal if this was #7 and #9, so spinning this through DAL instead of NYK is probably not enough.

MIN loses it's starting and back up PG, but they still have a very good back up in Tyus Jones that I would be comfortable with. Could LaVine start at the 1 if the ball was in Butler's hands to run the offense? Maybe. Otherwise, they use their cap space to try to bring in the names mentioned in the rumor, George Hill, Jrue, or Teague - and the addition of Butler probably makes a free agent more likely to agree.

For NYK, i can understand them wanting a bit more, but this isn't so far off that you'd include Noah - perhaps a smaller cap space move? It sounds like some DAL fans would do Rubio for #9 + Wes Matthews, and maybe that could be spun in. If Rubio doesn't span a drop from #8 to #16, what can span a drop from #8 to #9 (ntilinka?)?

Don't think Rubio is worth a top 10 pick in this draft, but disagree with those who think the value is light for Chi. They get two top 10 picks in a loaded draft and Dunn, hard to beat.

There are 2 tracks for the Bulls, Wade opts out and they have a bunch of cap space to sign big money FAs In that case they don't want to trade Butler with his good contract just to sign higher priced FAs. On that track there are still 2 options resign Rondo for the $13 million don't really need Rondo for that much with a very young team or let him go for $3M so they have even more cap space to spend.

If Wade takes the $26 million like everybody thinks, the Bulls aren't looking for a college team to surround Wade for that payday. So they don't want 2 lottery picks this year and one more, Dunn, from last year, plus Payne who hasn't played, added to Portis, Zipser and Valentine. You don't spend $26 million dollars for a mentor for young players. Then you don't want to bother with Rondo because the young guys need minutes.

If something like this happens, the Bulls hope Wade opts out. If not, they are stuck with him.

the depth of this draft makes 2 mid-lottery picks, and Dunn-worth it

No thanks. I love Rubio but I'm not passing on getting a foundation piece for him.

The last thing the Knicks should do in this draft is move down

Minnesota wouldn't do Rubio for Noah/#8 alone.
