Kevin Love Containment Thread -- All Deals Here
Noah and Melo to Cleveland for TT, Frye and JR Smith... not sure if shump works better
But figue to unload Noah deal, moving the bigger contract of Smith would work better
This would allow Cle to go for Butler at SG using love, or play small with Love at C and Shump at SG
As for the knicks, they rid themselves of melo and noah, get a C for the next 3 seasons to play with Kristaps and opens the SF position for a player who fits the triangle better

Re: Noah and Melo to Cle
If a team could actually depend on Noah to play 50-60 games and maybe 15-18 minutes per I think he may be of interest. But right now Noah is more or less looking like an very expensive Anderson Varejao. He simply cannot stay healthy. Going to be very difficult to find a taker unless the Knicks either take similar contracts back or give up a significant asset. Noah is a NY'er and if nothing else he provides some charisma so trading him for a different expensive lamp post doesn't make sense. Conversely, since the Knicks aren't really in any condition where using cap space to sign guys is viable, there really isn't a great need to move Noah's contract. Anthony? I mean I think the general take on this board (and most boards) that he's not all that valuable (I disagree but then again, it is what it is).

Hmm, Joakim Noah in Cleveland you say? Can't imagine either party wants that.
KC: Do you still think you're a championship-caliber team?

Well that is the thought... If melo is considered to be an asset, then using him to unload Melo deal would work
Agree right now that knicks are not a place that FA want to sign, but im sure there are better ways to spend that 18 Mil

Blazers(Love), Cavaliers(Melo), Knicks(Moe, Picks)
Knicks trade: Melo, Lance Thomas, Kyle O`Quinn
Knicks get: Allen Crabbe, Moe Harkless, 15th, 20th picks from Portland
Cavs trade: Love, Shumpert
Cavs get: Melo, Lance Thomas, Kyle O`Quinn
Portland trades: Crabbe, Harkless, 15th, 20th picks
Portland gets: Love, Shumpert
Why for the Knicks: Get Melo out. Add young player/picks for a rebuild.
WFT Cavs: Try something new against GSW by swapping Melo for Love. Add great perimeter defender in Lance Thomas, who also can hit a three. Kyle is a solid bench big, who can bring some toughness, and recover for some Love`s lost rebounding.
WFT Blazers: Get rid of Crabbes contract, while significantly improving by adding all-star in Love. Love and Nurkic front-court can do some dmg.

That is a brutally bad return for the Cavs and way to good for the Blazers.

Same... hahaha... I have no want for Love to be honest. He just doesn't do it for me. His defense is just not getting Portland anywhere and he's injured ALLLL THHEEE TIME. If he wasn't injured so often I'd say sure, let's give it a shot. He'd look damn good on offense stretching the floor... but he looks as slow as ever these days.

This is a rare trade that Portland takes on salary that I think Paul Allen would find worth the luxury tax if we can't unload other contracts.
I also think this is bad for Cavs though. I'd much rather have Love than Melo if I were them. He has finally started to connect there, and is younger and not clearly on the decline like Melo.

You guys overate Love's rebounding so much. Love has shown 3 years in a row what he is made of in the playoffs. He isn't the man Melo is. Love is good for pointing up numbers. Melo as a defender>>love and its not close ...that's how bad Love is on defense. And he doesn't contest shots so he can rebound the ball.

Melo hasn't missed a shot in the playoffs since 2013, just saying.

Looks good to me or you could swap out Portland for LAC with a Griffin sign and trade if thats allowed.
Knicks- Griffin, Rivers,
LAC- Love, Shumpert
Cleveland- Melo, Willy H, O'quinn

????
Prime Melo > Current Love > Current Melo
Saying Love is better then current Melo isn't saying that much. There's a lot of players better then current Melo. IMO Melo was about the 40th best player in the league last year. Given his age he probably drops from there. How much impact did Wade have for Chicago this season? Was it the same, or far, far less then the impact a younger Wade would have had?
