I imagine they want to use the #3 or Porzingis or Butler and still want to get DSJ.

I know it's been discussed, but Crowder almost makes too much sense. He'd be a fine fit in Minny, Thibs would love him, and he's not the future in Boston whether they pursue Hayward or not.
There may be a value gap there but it's nothing Boston can't address out of their war chest.

I'm not reading much into it, Celtics wanted a piece to add to a Porzingis deal but the Knicks are going to need a huge overpay.

If they want Jackson we hold all the cards

Ahem......
I basically called this a month ago. The team giving BOS the star piece was different, but I had the framework in place. Just remember that, everyone....

I guess the Celtics being the storied franchise they are every media guy under the sun is anxious to report on everything they do. It must be exhausting to follow for Celtic fans during times like this.

This seems tailor made for a 4 team trade to involve Butler too.
The Wolves give the Celtics what they need to get Porzingis while getting the main competitor out of the Butler bidding.

That and Ainge notoriously leaks stuff when he wants to apply pressure. It's so visible because the team is a deliberate rumor mill at times.

Maybe, but it would depend what MN was getting back. Crowder + ?? for the 7 certainly isn't going to give them more ammo to go after Butler with.

Well no, that's why Minnesota tells them "You can have 7 if Jimmy Butler is coming in".

I have heard some Wolves fans say they would trade #7 and cap space for Crowder, and those that wouldn't, so I polled Wolves fans this morning, and the majority said no.
http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=1581164Crowder is a very good player, but he does not fit the time frame of the Wolves. Most think that MIN will make the playoffs by adding the pick, $35 mil in free agency, a year of familiarity with Thibs system, and mostly, just player growth. Crowder makes them a better playoff team, but not competitive with GSW during the time frame of their core.
I think it would take a future pick with a little value, or else MIN would just look elsewhere.

I think also Crowder and the Memphis pick is fair.

What about Smart, 2018 BOS R1 and 2019 Memphis/LAC R1 (Lower of the two) for #7?
Then Crowder, #3, #7 and BRK 18 R1 for Zinger.

With all respect to Wolves' fans, and I do understand that position, but I think the Wolves have more immediate goals than "being competitive with GSW". It shouldn't be an all-or-nothing proposition.
I've gotten the impression that Taylor wants to make the playoffs *now*, and that Thibs is on the same train of thought. No guarantee that the #7 player is ever a contributor, let alone in year 1. And no reason they can't still spend that $35M on other players.
