Could the Bulls trade for Kyrie?

Post#1 » by JoJoEmbiid » Thu Aug 17, 2017 2:03 pm

They could trade Wade(or buyout so the Cavs get him at a lower salary) and a package of young guys to get a true young superstar. The Cavs could get LeBron one of his best friends and get young pieces in exchange for Kyrie that can help rebuild if LeBron leaves.
Let's say the Cavs have a starting lineup of:
LaVine
Wade
LBJ
Love
TT
They would probably get another guy like Markkanen along with LaVine and Wade in exchange for Kyrie. This trade gives them 2 starters to improve their depth as well as 2 young pieces to build with. The Cavs bench unit would be great with Rose, JR, Korver, RJ, Markkanen(?), Green, Frye, and Tavares.

Seems like the opposite of the direction they should be going now

I don't think there's any other team willing to accept Lavine as the center piece in a trade for a superstar like the Bulls did. He wasn't all that good when he was healthy, now he is coming off an ACL tear and entering restricted free agency.

The days of Wade being a key piece on a contender are over

What would it look like? Something like Wade, Lavine, Markannen, Portis for Irving, Shump, and a couple filler min guys? I can't imagine that this would be the best package offered for Irving.

The lineups would look something like:

Lavine
Wade
James
Love
Thompson

Irving
Shumpert
Holiday
Zipser? Niko?
Lopez

Why would they trade for Kyrie when they just traded Butler who has the same contract and isn't that much older.

There's no package we could offer that would realistically interest Cleveland that couldn't be beat by another team. However, I'd love Kyrie here lol

Not unless they hire Billy King.

IF I'm the Bulls, I don't even try unless Kyrie gives some sign that he might stick around for the long term. If he's a short term rental, sure I'd give Wade and pieces that aren't in my long term plan but not anyone the Cavs would care about.

Yeah, I'm not interested, tbh. Kyrie won't stay and we'd have to sell the future for him. Let me know when a star's available in 5 years.

Irving isn't so great to trade LaVine and Markkanen and Wade, even if he's an all star he can only play one position. he also pushes Dunn back to the bench. So the Bulls would have in essence traded Butler and Wade for Irving and made no progress towards any rebuild. It might be one of the worst ideas ever
