KOTB: DEN - NOP
If you believe all teams would accept this trade, vote yes. If you believe otherwise, vote no. Please explain your vote
***Deal would occur around the trade deadline***
DEN Gets: Rajon Rondo & NOP's 2018 1st (loterry protected)
DEN Gives: Will Barton
Why for Den? They move an expiring that they may not want to hand out a big payday to (considering Murray, Harris, Beasley, & Chandler can hold down SG/SF. Rondo could also potentially help mentor Murray & Mudiay on seeing the floor (if they are worried about him being a distraction, they can waive him later on).
NOP Gets: Will Barton
NOP Gives: Rajon Rondo & NOP's 2018 1st (loterry protected)
Why for NOP? They add a SG/SF who can not only be another scoring option alongside Cousins, Davis, & Holiday, but he can help handle the ball, make plays, and spread the floor for the big fellas. He's also 26 so his age fits right in with Cousins, Davis, Holiday, Hill, Moore, etc.

Re: KOTB: DEN - NOP
I think Denver is focused on making the playoffs and for that to happen their chances are better with Barton than Rondo. Plus the FO really likes Barton and I think I remember hearing them say they want to bring him back.
So I'd vote no, as in no that trade wouldn't happen. Whether the value is fair I can't say.
Personally, if that pick could be top 10 protected, or even top 12, I'd take it even if it jeopardized our chances of making the playoffs this year.

Yeah, the focus is always on the playoffs - usually at any cost, especially when it comes to Malone.

I do like the value for Denver and actually believe they just might do it, especially if they are struggling a little or if Harris, Beasley, Murray, Mudiay seem to be all showing their potential at guard and Hernangomez and/or Lyles show their potential at SF. Then I think it could happen. Likely? Not now! Later? Yeah, I think they just might do it.

KOTB yes
I guarantee the FO is hellbent on making the playoffs. Malone is too but if he can't get it done his job is in peril.
So for now, any move they make will be with that goal in mind and Rondo will set them back. But the votes are cast.

Re: KOTB: DEN - NOP
Yea Barton would be a good addition for the Pels, but not with this trade. Pels are committed to having Jrue be the SG (with good reason), so Rondo and Nelson are the only PG options right now, other than injured rookie Frank Jackson. Rondo was brought in to help Cousins out, and with DMC's antics, it's a good idea to keep Rondo around at least for the rest of this season.
That pick would be better used in another way, like helping unload Asik's salary and adding a decent role-player at a position of need. Also, we have E. Moore, T. Allen and Clark at SG already, and I don't think they'd be able to afford re-signing Barton, so he'd be just a rental.

he's salary filler, mate. This deal is simply about Barton for a pick, Rondo has no relevance here.

Kotb yes. I dont like trading Barton since he is a good player but i doubt we will have the money to resign him and we do have a log jam at the SG position. Since playoffs seem unlikely without Millsap i would look to trade Barton for a deal involving a 1st rounder to a win now team. I dont care too much about Rondo or any other salary filler but it should not be too much money coming in.
Nop could use a scorer at the wing position and thry to convince Cousins to stay. Their 1st might be a little too valuable for them but its not lottery so they cant hope to find anyone good enough to help them now. I doubt they can get a better player for a mid 1st in a not so deep draft and they dont have more assets.

I like the idea of trading Barton for a first instead of paying him, but chandler is the only 3 in the rotation and has been bad, so Barton’s minutes at the 3 are too valuable to lose.
Now, if Torrey Craig comes up and shows he can be a rotation player, or another trade for a 3 happens, I’m on board. But until then, no.

Bump.
I think we're still short on votes and not sure some above made it totally clear either.

KOTB: No
Pelicans have limited assets as is. I wouldn't use a first to get a player like Will Barton without at least adding in a salary dump or something.
That being said, I don't think the Pels should trade their first unless it's a knock out of the park, blow your socks off deal.

We are at either 4 or 5 no's. Put me as the 5th. I'm not sold Barton is worth a pick that good (versus Rondo). And obviously the pick is what matters.
