KOTB: Det/PHX

Post#1 » by GreekAlex » Thu Dec 7, 2017 6:46 pm

Detroit trades: Boban Marjanovich
Detroit receives: Jared Dudley

PHX trades: Jared Dudley
PHX receives: Boban Marjanovich

Why for Detroit: With Stanley Johnson struggling offensively Detroit needs a reliable veteran that can knock down the 3.

Dudley can play the 3 and some small ball 4. This versatility will make the Pistons rotation much more effective with the threat of his 3 point shooting.

Now that Andre Drummond has fixed his FT shoot, Boban is not needed anymore as Andre can finish games.

Why for PHX: Jared Dudley is not being used as he sees many DNP-CD. This deal saves the Suns nearly 6M over the 1 & 3/4 seasons both players contracts last.

Dudley has really embraced his mentorship role in PHX. Playing time doesn't matter to him anymore; he's really a player-coach.

Since the money savings don't do anything for your rebuild, would a second round pick do anything for you?

No. We have oodles of them and lots of young players. We do need a guard--preferably a pg.

Would the Suns be open to eating any salary if a 1st round pick was included?

Certainly not if the commitment is beyond 2019. Detroit first round picks are not as valuable right now. Sorry, its a by-product of how well you are playing.
