Simple Miami and Chicago deal
Miami trades: Bam Adebayo
Chicago trades: Bobby Portis
Bulls get their center of the future, who likely won't see the court as much behind Whiteside as he would on the Bulls.
Miami gets a shooting forward that would work well starting next to Whiteside.

Re: Simple Miami and Chicago deal
This actually popped in to my head when we were playing Miami. Not sure how highly they rate Bam, but fit wise this makes sense for both teams.
If the Heat are truly high on him maybe some extra incentive would need to come from us, given Portis is a couple of years in to his rookie deal already.

I love it, but I doubt Miami would do it. I would throw a lottery protected 1st in-maybe

Miami definitely needs more incentive. Bam has been getting a decent amount of minutes lately from what I've seen and performed very well for how raw he supposedly was. Honestly, even if the contracts were equal I doubt Miami would do it straight up.

There's no way Miami is touching this deal but let's not start throwing firsts around like mints at an olive garden.

Re: Simple Miami and Chicago deal
what an ugly trade for Miami.
Stories circulating is the Heat might trade Whiteside coz Bam could be their future at center.
But thats not the big issue Miami says no but talent wise and contract wise, Bam is a lot better. If the Bulls wants Bam, it will take more than just Portis alone.

Re: Simple Miami and Chicago deal
I'm stunned. That's appallingly bad.
We don't want Portis, not even if it's to punch some sense into Erik Spoelstra so Whiteside gets minutes in the 4th.
By the way, we have a shooting forward that plays well with Whiteside: Bam Adebayo. We also have Kelly Olynyk and James Johnson. Portis wouldn't get many minutes in our front court.

I remember 11-30 with these guys. ^

Re: Simple Miami and Chicago deal
I get if some people rate Bam better long term, but let's not pretend like their values are that far off.
Bam looks like a future starter. On 12/9 per 36 on the season, that's good for a rookie.
Portis is a starting level player - 21/11 per 36.
Both players are efficient relative to their skill-sets (i.e. Ports takes more jumpers/is a higher volume offensive player, and is efficient for that role, Bam is more of an interior finisher and is efficient for that role). Bam projects to be the better defender, of course.
Maybe the deal doesn't make sense for Miami to do, but let's not unfairly trash Portis' value in the process. It's not worlds apart.

Re: Simple Miami and Chicago deal
It's pretty far apart for me, but I also take into account fit and character. Bam's defense is a great fit for Miami, and we've liked the potential of his offense. We see Adebayo as a Miami Heat starter. Portis gives us nothing we lack. Besides, he assaulted his teammate. I don't think you'll find many beating down your door to trade for him.

You do remember what Portis did to Mirotic, right? That definitely still has a negative impact on his value.
As for the trade itself, Miami trades a phenomenal prospect for a more finished product who will need an extension sooner rather than later. That doesn't work for Miami. Bam's relative cheapness is a big time boon in his favor, not to mention his play.
Also, this doesn't work directionally for the Heat. If we're trading Bam, he would be part of a bigger deal for a marked improvement. A consolidation trade for a star player. And even then, I think you'd see Riley trying to keep him. This just doesn't work... On any level. It's not a rebuild trade either as he's better suited for that, as well.
Not a good move for Miami. Pass...

Agree with all other Heat fans in here: this is not a trade the Heat should do. We believe we have a quality player, and he's part of the reason Hassan is possibly tradable.

Re: Simple Miami and Chicago deal
Adebayo's numbers look like Cristiano Felicio's numbers in his first 2 years in this league... Long way to go before contributing offensively... He might become the next big thing ... or he could become Cristiano Felicio.
Portis has been progressing every year and could now start for a number of teams in this league. He'd definitely start over James Johnson. It's not a good fit for the Bulls IMO as I believe RoLo is a cornerstone to our rebuild and should be here for the long term.
