I don't get why Minny wants to weaken their big man rotation this year for that Bucks 1st. I'd much rather see if I could talk the Clippers into Teague+the pick+a couple min fillers for Beverley/Johnson/Boban(filler). Beverley fits the lineup much better than Teague and it really helps the payroll issues moving forward. And heck Wesley Johnson actually upgrades the wing rotation.

Clippers get an upgrade at PG for a couple years and a 1st round pick for taking on that 2nd year of Teague.

Phoenix just added the versatile Melton to Okobo and 2nd year pg Shaq Harrison all capable pg's on a young fast paced lottery team. Teague is the last type of guy I'd want on that roster in PHO right now.

Gibson would be a great mentor to have around for the kids and between he, the 40 games they get from Danillo and Tobias they should remain competitive even if they have a terrible record.

Just not sure I see the point in the trade for Minnesota. Ryan Anderson/Towns would get dominated inside. I like the guard/wing defense but I don't think that makes up for replacing Gibson with Anderson. The 1st is nice as well, but if this is the plan then I think you need to follow it up with trading Jimmy for younger assets.

No I am talking about value. If you want to argue fit that's totally different and I'm cool with your takes from a Clippers perspective. But that's totally different from saying the price to take on Teague's last year is 2 firsts and Patton. If you aren't interested in taking him on for the reasons above, then just say that. And my response would be alright, cool.

Now hopefully we can move on as I've made my point about the importance of serious valuation on the board and you've made your point about why you don't like the idea. I can handle that. Lots of my ideas aren't great and I have no problems accepting that.

Thibs is looking to win now and this deal makes Minnesota moderately worse. There isn't any money savings and the pick swap is relatively neutral in value, so I'm struggling to see the incentive for the Wolves.

Beverly is a long term fit if he wants to stay. Even if SGA surpasses him to start this year Beverly is the perfect backup to help him grow.

If I'm the Suns, I'd prefer to trade a protected first for Beverly. I know opinions on Teague differ but I really can't see trading a first for the right to pay a replacement-level PG $19 million per over the next two years.

Wow, this looks like a huge slam dunk win for LAC.

I love me some Trojans in Taj Gibson, who's a hardnosed player thats always useful on the court. Getting any FRP for PatBev is the best the LAC can expect. WeJo is whatever salary filler. If i'm the Clips i'd then try to spin Taj elsewhere for another SRP, with Montrezl on the roster, there's no point carrying the both of them..... or trade Trez for the best assets they can get back since he's on a lovely 2 yr 12mil deal. Taj is expiring so it helps their 2019 2 max plan, if they're serious about that.

For the other teams, i can see how it works. TWolves want more shooting and lower usage 3D PG. PHX wants to compete now by getting a real starting quality PG for a big man who might steal too much PT from the kids. The MIL FRP might not convey so just send it out and get some short term piece that can help alot.

Clearly LAC is biggest winners while MIN/PHX need to think long and hard if the gambles are worth it.

If Beverly is healthy hes going to be looking to get paid after being on that bargain contract. If shai progresses I see absolutely no way west ties up that much money into a backup pg.

Truth be told, I was kind of thinking Los Angeles should just get two seconds, as opposed to a first, but I didn't want to seem overly greedy.

The Ryan Anderson inclusion is a big reason for the value being a late-first, in my opinion.

I think this trade does a lot of good things, moving many players to teams where they are better fits and have more value. Teague would do wonders for developing PHX youth, and he is a bit wasted in MIN. Ryan Anderson is less of a liability in MIN, where he is a vet that could stretch the floor. This would have worked even better if MIN hadn’t spent it’s off-season money on Tolliver. Patrick Beverley, if healthy, is a better fit for MIN than in LAC this season.

However, while I can see a trade like this in the abstract, I just can’t see Thibs agreeing to trade two of his starters, especially Taj. The rest of MIN’s roster does not contain contracts that allow the trade-matching flexibility that would be needed for big trades, so I imagine MIN will bring back basically the same team for the rest of this season.
