If I could get Conley im not worrying about losing a pick that should be in the 20’s and an off the bench shooter.

Mcdermott is the only one who can play the 3 though. And he really should not be a 30 mpg kind of guy.

A move like that really lowers our ceiling and doesn't raise our floor enough to justify it imo. We'd be at close to $90 mil for a roster of:

Conley/Holiday
Vic/
Mcd/
/Alize
Turner/Sabonis

With no first. We'd have to bring back everyone we could and could easily end up paying over $120 mil just to keep Cojo, Thad, Sumner, and Tyreke. I don't think that team is that much better than the one we have and it takes away our final shot at a big free agency.

I really want to work something with the base of Conley to DET, Fultz and Reggie Jackson to MEM, and Kennard and JaMychal Green to PHI... but making the salaries work and keeping both MEM and DET out of the tax is difficult.

More value needs to go to Memphis.

I think that is reasonable.

Since it isn't definitely known that Brooklyn will need additional cap space next summer, I would expect the Nets to wait and move the Crabbe contract when it is necessary to do so.

I agree they're in no rush to move the money until they need to, but if a reasonable offer pops up, they'll jump on it early.

That being said, I don't think it takes a 1st to dump Crabbe. It usually takes a 1st to dump $15-$20mil of dead money. Crabbe is overpaid, but at 1 year, $18.5mil, with the MLE slated to be over $9mil next year, he's at worst $9mil overpaid, but more likely about $5-6mil overpaid. The Knicks 2nd rounder, likely top 35, should be sufficient. An extra 2nd rounder is more than enough.

Memphis has been patiently working their way out of the mess that is the Chandler Parsons contract. Taking on the Crabbe contract for paltry compensation with Parsons still on the roster doesn't appear to be something a small market team should do.
