Vote James Johnson. With his terrible numbers this year (9.5 PER, .025 WS/48, -3.8 BPM, 38.8% FG, .466 TS%) and turning 32 in 2 months the downside of being totally useless the next 2 years at 15 mil+ is scary

Nominate Norman Powell

First off, thanks again for doing this man.

V Mahinmi
N Powell

Mahinmi's basically unplayable and the only other guys I thought about were Waiters and JJ. Waiters is less $ for more years and easier to move, and JJ's at least playable and getting back.

Felicio's contact obviously isn't ideal, but I tend to think anything under a certain amount per year is more of a minor annoyance than an anchor. A late 1st could probably dump his contract. Then again the real unmovable guys are nominated already

Dion Waiters (very tough between him and Johnson, but I kind of expect Johnson being able to be a bit more of help in the immediate future)
Norman Powell

Edit: For anyone that has taken Mahinmi instead of Mozgov (who is more expensive) or Anderson (whose guaranteed money is more expensive than both): why?

Anderson
Powell

Hmm, no Ryan Anderson votes yet. I think we`re over looking just how bad his contract really is. He`s easily far far worse then any of the 2yr deals on the board, and yes worse then any 3 yr, deal as well which is really saying something.

Imagine paying 2/ 42.5 M or in essence 1/36 M but still with a 15.6 or 3yr. 5.2 if stretched cap hit next yr for a player you waived. For a one trick pony who isn`t performing even at that task. He of a 4.7 per, unplayable defensively, who rebounds like a guard.

So again 2yrs. 42.5M or 1yr 36M of very little to no production, along with however you choose to deal with the 15.6 guaranteed next yr

Vote: Anderson (most total money owed to somebody who is unplayable on a competitive team)
Nomination: I still can't believe the Nets had a year to be grateful Portland matched on Allen Crabbe, then traded for him anyway.

I like TJ but $19.2M for a combo guard who usually comes off the bench is a bit much. Expires 6/2020.

Tough call between Ryan Anderson, Evan Turner, Ian Mahimi, and Brandon Knight

But I'll vote Ryan Anderson - completely unplayable and untradable, owed the most money of the bunch

Assuming he gets waived at 15.6 Anderson will cost less than equally useless Mozgov even if he's on a roster. So I would pick Mozgov as worse deal

I don't like JJ's deal either but you have 328 minutes of data, which is not statistically convincing of, well, anything. Now his PER is 10.6 for example. In a couple games, it might be 12 or 13 or it might be 8. There's just not much data. My guess is he'll finish the season at about 15 PER, 109/105 ORTG/DRTG, and play 25 minutes per game. Even so, it's a piss poor deal because there is a player option three years from now.

You make some fair points, but it makes perfect sense that this is the age where a player with JJ's mediocre skill level was going to lose it. And even with the decent version of JJ, committing to an extra year of 15 mil+ for an aging role player seems unideal to most teams to me compared to just swallowing crap like Mozgov and having it expire next season or having the option to stretch him at a reasonable price. I may have been underestimating the chance of JJ becoming good again sometime this season, but there's also a fair chance his 16 Gs is who he is now, the truth is probably somewhere in the middle when rating his value
