Hard vote due to being a transition year for bad contracts. Within a year will be more of a consensus on how bad Wiggins, Wall, Paul, Love, Hayward deals are.

Thanks for putting all the work on these lists, Doc! Interesting to read (and have my own opinions about

)

Still can't believe Zach LaVine didn't make this list he's injury prone and that contract is kinda bad

Broke his leg.
I understand that but isn’t it a little early to call him one of the worst contracts in the league? George broke his leg and had a down year too. I suppose that technically does diminish the value of the contract.

Yeah I personally don’t think he is top 10 worst assuming he gets back to a semblance of his old self but I can understand why peeps voted him. He is a sixth man making Max money right now.

There's a realistic chance Hayward is Parsons level a year from now. Pretty risky to take him. I think he's in about the right place.

I wonder how many of these guys a team can have, and still be a functional (PO level) team.
Heat and Wolves each have 2, is there a way for a team to get more than two via legit trades?
What’s the most damage you can do to a team? How many can one team amass?

Yikes... other than being white, what leads you to draw that comparison?

What leads you to that conclusion. He is getting healthier and better every day.

Yeah... that take is looking worse and worse every day... I think you jumped the gun to quick, Dr. Positivity.

Not a single Knicks contract in the top 10? I can't even remember the last time this would have happened.

Because you bought out Noah

I'll be very interested to see how you guys handle FA this year. I think it could get intriguing (in a positive way!) as long as management tells Dolan to stay out of it for a few months.

Noah, Parsons and all the 2016 disasters are bad but given they only have 1 more year they don't belong in the top 10. I'd go Porter or Tammy Hardaway (15% trade kicker).

Careful, in some quarters here THJ is regarded as value.
But I totally agree, some of the faux maxes and the overpay-extensions are bad deals.

Okay, here’s my go at making Heat bad contract central:
Trade 1: Whiteside/Ellington for Wiggins/Dieng
Trade2: Dragic for Wall
Trade 3: TJ/2019 1st (unprotected) for Love
We now have 6 of the top 10, and a team that looks like:
Winslow/Wade/Wall(inj)
Wiggins/Waiters
Richardson/DJJ
Love/Johnson
Olynyk/Bam/Dieng
Functional, and still a P.O. team in the East, but damn those contracts are bad!

Actually, I's say your take is getting worse every day.
To me, the biggest thing you and others are missing, is that Haywood's current role on the celtics just doesn't allow for him to consistently put up numbers like he did in Utah. He's had 2 or 3 really good games, and I'd guess that if he was still a #1 option, he'd probably have twice that many or more, but his role simply doesn't allow for it most of the time.
IMO he's definitely lost a step athletically, but it's really a combination of that and his diminished role that is preventing him from putting up impressive numbers on a consistent basis, and his role isn't likely to change much with how their current roster is structured.
But yeah, I don't know how anybody could question his making this list. All you have to do is look at how much he makes compared to his current contribution. Just because he might get better someday doesn't mean jack squat. You could make that same argument for a bunch of guys on this list. Wiggins may turn into the next Olidipo for all we know. That doesn't mean he shouldn't be on the list as of now.
If anything, I'd say Haywood should be higher on this list than he is. Maybe by next year he won't belong here, but that has nothing to do with which contracts are currently the worst in the league.

I was thinking the other day, how is Schroeder not at the very least an honorable mention?
