Assumptions: Chicago has the 2nd pick, Atlanta has the 5th and 12th picks.
Chicago trades: 2nd overall pick, Dunn
Atlanta trades: 5th pick, 12th pick
Why for Chicago: They get to add two young players to their core instead of one, may not love the guys available directly after Zion
Why for Atlanta: If they like Barrett paired next to Trae, they get him and have their backcourt for the next decade. Also get a nice backup point in Dunn who is still young.
Edit: Secondary question. If you don’t like this from Atlanta perspective, how far back would their pick have to drop for you to accept it? For example, would you do the deal if their picks were 7 and 12? 8 and 12? What’s your number?

Pip proposed the exact same deal a few days ago:

I still don't like it. Give me RJ (or Ja if you're convinced he's your all star point) and don't risk giving up a star for lesser talents ala the Luka deal. The choices at 5 get even more dicey than 2 thru 4 in this class even compared to last years class which was considered 7-8 deep.

If the Bulls don't love the guy at the second pick they're going to love 5 and 12 even less and they aren't going to come all that much cheaper. That's a big drop off to 5 and 12 doesn't make up for it, Dunn was a top ten pick so it's not like that's any guarantee

Ugh, I even commented on that. I need to catch up on sleep.

I’m really starting to like Garland more than Ja, so getting him and a guy like Rui or Boi is really enticing.

Valentine and #2 for 5 & 12. Better value for Chicago IMO.

Re: Chicago Atlanta draft day deal
Atlanta loves no prospect in this draft to do that sans Zion.
