Crazy Deal-LBJ to Bulls

Post#1 » by pipfan » Sat Mar 9, 2019 6:22 pm

Now, I would NEVER want him on the Bulls. I was actually against signing him way back before the summer of 2010. But, this is a hypothetical board for us to throw ideas around to discuss.

Bulls get #4 pick, Zion, RJ, Morant gone

Lakers can't get AD

Rights to #4, 2021 unprotected Bulls 1st, Dunn, Felicio, Blakney for LBJ

Bulls have the cap space in July to absorb the difference

For Lakers, if they can't get AD, it is not worth it for them to sign a guy like Cousins and be a little better, then deal with all the drama. They build around Ball, Hart, Dunn, Ingram, Kuzma, Wagner, #10 (their pick), #4 and future picks/cap space.

Bulls go nuts, and go for it. LBJ is best suited now for a role of facilitating with younger players. Imagine this lineup
Zach/Archi
Porter/Valentine
LBJ/Hutchinson
Lauri/Taj/LBJ
Carter/Rolo/Lauri

Taj and Rolo sign as vets, and we add some other PG. that team could be REALLY dangerous. LBJ is still a top 5 player, and the league would LOVE the storyline of LBJ in Chicago-plus it would help ratings a bunch.

Again, I would be against it, but with Zach's mass improvement, Lauri's immergence and Porter's steadying hand-that is a dangerous team

On one hand it's a wrong direction for Chicago, on the other it's a bad deal for Lakers and on the third Lebron never agrees to a trade to the Bulls.

Nobody left on the Bulls is going to experience a mass improvement with Lebron on the team. He would command the ball and everyone else would be looking for a way to fit in. Unless you think Lebron is going to make a complete overhaul of his game and step way back from taking the ball and scoring. On offense maybe they could run the offense through James but Lavine isn't even an imitation PG and would be even worse on defense.

As for the Lakers, by signing James they showed they were done rebuilding and that's an organization with no patience to draft and develop.

Just about a thousand other trades better than this one would be available to LA if Lebron ever became available.

Which is worse for the actual player Otto as a two or Zach as a one? Or LBJ with a bunch of kids part two?

Seems like any pretend Chicago/LBJ trade would have to include Otto so LeBron could bring a friend via FA. Or Chicago could trade the rest of their roster/assets for AD and maybe AD/LBJ/Otto/LaVine/room ex PG?
