Feels like we normally do Lotto predictions, right?

Anyone who wants to predict the Lotto results tomorrow night should do so here. Here's the template:

1. Dallas Mavericks
2. who cares
3. who cares
4. who cares

Now you may think Dallas has never moved up in the draft in their 40 year history. And that they have terrible odds. But the lady we hired to clean up behind Pants DJ and My Name is Earl is representing us in the lottery and the Dallas paper ran a big story about how God is ordaining it or something absurd.

Okay all lame Dallas jokes aside, get your guesses in on the lottery. I'm going with:

1. New York Knickerbockers
2. Chicago Bulls
3. Memphis Grizzlies
4. Atlanta Hawks

1. Cavs - they always get #1
2. Suns - just so the Knicks don't get 1 or 2
3. Pelicans- they need a feel good story
4. Knicks

My first random lotto draw on here was:

1. Philly (via SAC)
2. ATL
3. MEM
4. NY

My actual guess is:

1. MEM
2. ATL
3. NY
4. CLE

1. Cleveland - Per usual for Nick
2. SAC->BOS - Ainge is the second luckiest guy in the nba to Nick Gilbert and this reflects that
3. Lakers - Pick can be used to help get Lebron back into the playoffs for ratings
4. Memphis - we move up, have no clear person to pick, go with Garland, and he busts

Scary. We’re assuming Kings don’t move up. But if they do, can’t be for Zion

What can I say, I know my team. Memphis seems to have better drafts when we drop in the lottery. That is how we got Conley and JJJ (moving up would have been Ayton who is very good but I like JJJ slightly better). Our big jump up resulted in Thabeet. Going forward we then throw a sizeable contract at Jaylen Brown and Sabonis in 2020 that Boston and Indy can't afford to match and our team becomes decent but not great as we try to stumble back onto that treadmill (which isn't a bad place for us as long as the treadmill is still making the playoffs).

Wright/Garland/Carter
Brown/Brooks
Anderson/Cabocalo
JJJ/Rabb
Sabonis/JV?

Plus whatever we get in the Conley deal

1.New York
2.Chicago
3.Atlanta
4.Phoenix

My hopes are two part:

1. For the health of the league get the stars in the big markets for ratings

2. Keep them out of the West, per competition for Kings

I’d love to see Memphis get the first pick. I understand people wanting to see the big market teams be relevant but they’ve got enough built in advantages already. If a team in New York or LA can’t figure out how to win without lottery luck then that’s on them.

The second time I did it Charlotte got #1, so I think the site is just messing with me.

My hopes and dreams:

1) Charlotte
2) New York
3) Chicago
4) Phoenix

What I predict:

1) Memphis
2) New Orleans
3) Cleveland
4) Washington

I'd like to see the Grizzlies move up, but if they don't get one of the top 2 picks I think they'd rather move back in the lottery so they can be free and clear for next year's much better draft .

Zion in Memphis... IMO doesn’t help the league at all for Giannis to be in Milwaukee.. just perpetual bad ratings

I'm not basing this on anything at all, but wouldn't more people tune in to watch the smaller teams than otherwise would, and the big markets still get watched anyway? Or is the argument that big players in big markets have exponential value that outweighs any gain like that?

What I want to happen:

1. Charlotte - I think CHA fans deserve Zion. It would be funny to see MJ draft the next Duke icon too. I really think this sets up CHA nicely. They can keep try to keep Kemba and either trade Zion for a star or run with him. If they don’t keep Kemba, they will be able to properly rebuild with Zion as the face.

2. Memphis - I think Memphis deserves some luck and I want the city to get back to glory. Morant would be awesome and they could even keep Conley with him. If not, move him for assets as they need them. They could even go with Barrett to fill need instead. Great position for this team.

3. Minnesota - The team needs that final youth piece to become “like Houston”. Well Morant would be great if Memphis doesn’t pick him, but they will be happy with Barrett as well.

4. Washington - Washington fans deserve some happiness after losing Wall. Things get interesting here. I think realistically, they can do one of 3 things: (1) double down on the roster and trade the pick for a low end star, (2) stick with the roster and pick an NBA ready player who can glue it all together (Hunter), or (3) trade down for some salary relief.

What I think will happen:
1. New York
2. Washington
3. Atlanta
4. Cleveland

My picks before my Tankathon simulation

1. Atlanta
2. New York
3. Washington
4. Phoenix

What I got from Tankathon

1. Atlanta
2. New York
3. Chicago
4. Cleveland

So, I'm locking in Atlanta / New York as my top two picks

Broadly speaking -- the whole nation cares more about big market teams than about small market teams.

As for why, it isn't in the link I posed but last I saw it wasn't that it was that more of LAL watching LAL has more impact than more of Indy watching Indy, but rather more of Memphis watches LAL than watches Indy.

Sounds like your random draw is destiny. I'm going with that one.

My pull on Tankathon was PHX, ATL, MEM, CLE.

1. Knicks: big market and most talk leading up to draft. Trade for Davis or not dilemma.

2. Hawks: see above. Trade Morant, combine with Dallas 1st for big trade, either way creates ton of trade talk leading up to draft.

3. Suns: do they trade up for Morant or trade pick for another PG.

4. Cavs: they don’t get #1 for once.

5. Bulls

I got:

1. Hawks
2. NOLA
3. Knicks
4. Wizards

Prediction:

1. Bulls
2. Hawks
3. Cavs
4. Suns

But honestly a part of me wants the Sixers to get 1 just for the pure insanity to follow.

1) Phoenix - so they can do the wrong thing and move down
2) Cleveland - so they can debate Morant/Barrett endlessly
3) Washington - so if Morant slips from two he's maybe even in play at 4
4) Atlanta - because lol, what if Ja slipped to 5

Tankathons sim
1) Chicago (up 3)
2) New Orleans (up 5)
3) LA Lakers (up 7)
4) Memphis (up 4)
