Have to imagine the Bulls are burning up the Cavs line if Garland is there at 5.

They must like Barrett a lot.

I think they could beat some of these offers even keeping Mitch, given the tier difference of the 3rd pick and the Lakers 4th

Because the Knicks' assets sans the 3rd overall pick aren't anything great. Mitch is a good piece, but he's not a great piece. But the problem is the Knicks' secondary assets pale in comparison to say the Lakers.

really? I would take knicks..just my opinion maybe?

Moreso they don’t have any GM or power structure in place to organize workouts.

I would too

Barrett >> 4th pick
Mitch > any Lakers prospect
Ingram injured
Dallas unprotected > any Laker pick

Etc

To me it means for whatever reason New York is choosing not to bid the farm

Yeah man, that's odd. Remember a few drafts where few people seemed to want to work out in Sac.

Wonder if that's the case for them?

I mean, there are relatively safe options there at 9, I'm sure, and if they really, truly think that Masai is the guy, and that he'll take the job, and that they're willing to offer the money and job demands he wants, then, in the long run, it's worth it for them to just take whomever falls to them at 9. Or, basically let Masai make the pick from his own personal scouting with minimal scouting on the Wizards roster.

But, if Masai is the right guy to lead them, then waiting for him is the best thing to do.

This happens to teams drafting thereabouts occasionally when it is viewed as a flat tier. No one wants to separate themselves out and be viewed as the 9th/10th best guy in a flat tier, so all the players work out for 3-7 and teams 8-10 get rejected by everyone and only get to work out guys 12-20.

Eventually you get some last minute secret work outs.

This isn't true at all. Look at last year's pre-draft workouts. All lotto prospects that were drafted:

#8 pick: Cleveland
-Trae Young
-Collin Sexton
-Mikal Bridges
-Wendell Carter Jr
-Kevin Knox

#9 pick: New York
-Trae Young
-Collin Sexton
-Mikal Bridges
-Wendell Carter Jr
-Kevin Knox
-Miles Bridges

#10 pick: Philadelphia
-Mikal Bridges
-Miles Bridges
-Kevin Knox

It has more to do with the dysfunctional Wizards. I mean hell, the Grizz had the #4 pick and only got a visit/workout with Wendell Carter Jr.

I appreciate that info about just last year -- and definitely am not saying that the Wiz dysfunction doesn't play some role -- but there definitely have been past years where it has had caused problems for teams at the end of tiers.

Perhaps some of the more drafnict types can say where last years tiers where, at this point I don't recall if it was the same area.

Is Begley credible?

Not really. He’s a Knicks writer with no known ties to the Nets. Pooch and Windrem came out and immediately disputed the Begley report.

Essentially, Butler is the fuzzy gray line. Nets would renounce DLo for Kyrie+Kawhi/KD. Would not renounce him for Tobias. Unclear whether they would for Butler. Contrary to Begley’s claim, they won’t renounce DLo for Kyrie only.

They might if Kyrie says I'm not coming to share with Russell. Which knowing Kyrie is a real possibility.

Kind of want Kyrie to LAL now. I know, it is only me.

I’d rather have Russell or Kemba. Kyrie is too mercurial and whose to say he won’t get unhappy as the “third guy” when he was mad about being eclipsed by only Bron a few years ago?

Yup. A QO makes sense in that regards and then choosing where he gets to play for 4 years is probably pretty palatable when his QO is a good amount of money, rather than signing his max this year in brooklyn, knowing that he’ll be traded anywhere without his consent pretty much as soon as he can be.

I’m pretty sure that if Kyrie gave that sort of ultimatum, Marks would cut off talks. He’s not going to allow Kyrie to dictate moves, exhibit power and undermine culture before he’s signed.

Marks would sell out for Kawhi or a healthy KD. Not for Kyrie.
