Orlando Magic

DJ Augustine / Fultz / MCW
Evan Fournier / TRoss / Melvin Frasier
Aaron Gordon / Iwundu/ Okeke
Jonathan Isaac / Aminu
Nikola Vucevic / Mo Bamba / Mozgov

There is a chance Aminu is the backup 3 and Okeke as the backup 4 once he's healthy. Okeke might be able to beat out Iwundu for that spot in our 2nd unit.

Sixers:
Simmons / Neto / Milton
Richardson / Smith / Shayok
Harris / Ennis / Thybulle
Horford / Scott / Bolden
Embiid / O'Quinn / Pelle

I went with the 15-man roster, and would remove Shayok/Pelle for the active 13-man roster.

Don't agree on either front.
LeVert is our 3rd star, or so we hope, who's also close with KD and drafted by us. Prince will have his chances though.
Claxton is looking good in summer league, but he's still raw and IMO a C in Kenny's system even with his ball handling and range.

The Jazz are reportedly signing French forward William Howard from Limoges and and 2nd round pick Miye Oni to contracts. With that the depth chart would look something like this:

PG: Mike Conley, Emanuel Mudiay, Nigel Williams-Goss
SG: Donovan Mitchell, Dante Exum, Miye Oni
SF: Joe Ingles, Royce O'Neale, William Howard/Jarell Brantley
PF: Bojan Bogdanovic, Jeff Green, Georges Niang
C: Rudy Gobert, Ed Davis, Tony Bradley

The PF spot is the most intriguing one. Or rather... the combination of the two forward spots. It's possible Ingles gets moved to the bench as a general of the bench unit while either Jeff Green or Royce O'Neale start in his stead. It will be very interesting to see how the Jazz handle that rotation. I listed it this way because I think this will be the closing lineup, even if they don't start together.

Update: some news from the Jazz - The Jazz signed Miye Oni to a 3 year deal with 1st year fully guaranteed. Same with Goss. Those are almost guaranteed to make the roster.

The Jazz also signed William Howard and Stanton Kidd to 3 year deals with just partially guaranteed 1st year... the expectation is that they will compete for the final 15th roster spot. Watching Stanton Kidd highlights and some games during SL he looks scarily similar to Royce O'Neale. The Jazz are trying to strike gold third time(after Ingles and Royce) - trying to get a Euroleague role player with size(and athleticism for Royce and Kidd) and turn them into rotational role player in the NBA.

The Jazz also signed 2nd round picks Jarrell Brantley and Justin Wright-Foreman to 2-way contracts and Indiana forward Juwan Morgan to exhibit 10 contract. This makes up 19 players for camp and only one spot left if I'm not mistaken. So here's the updated depth chart:

PG: Mike Conley, Emanuel Mudiay, Nigel Williams-Goss, Justin Wright-Foreman
SG: Donovan Mitchell, Dante Exum, Miye Oni
SF: Joe Ingles, Royce O'Neale, William Howard/Stanton Kidd/Jarrell Brantley
PF: Bojan Bogdanovic, Jeff Green, Georges Niang, Juwan Morgan
C: Rudy Gobert, Ed Davis, Tony Bradley

  • fully guaranteed contracts
  • partially or non guaranteed contracts
  • 2-way contracts
  • exhibit 10 contract

I question a bunch of these . . .

- Bembry over Crabbe? Turner makes the former redundant and the latter's shooting is desperately needed on the 2nd unit.

- No Layman? Supposedly he's neck and neck to start with Culver. Bates-Diop over Vonleh? Possible, but doubtful to start.

- Kuzma over Bradley/Caldwell-Pope? Not enough forward depth for this to be practical, plus it would force Green to defend PG's.

- Brown and Wilson over Connaughton and Ilyasova? Possible, but doubtful to start.

- Rotations are more practical than depth charts. For example, Inwundu and O'Quinn are listed as primary backups, but in reality the former is unlikely to be in the rotation while the latter won't be.

Spurs:

Gay/Carroll
DeRozan/Belinelli
Aldridge/Poeltl
Forbes/Mills
Murray/White

Fringe: Lyles, Walker

Deep bench/G-League: Metu, Eubanks (2-way), Johnson, Samanic, Weatherspoon (2-way)

- Gay, Poeltl, Carroll, could all start some depending on match-ups.
- Lyles and Walker will push Belinelli. If none stake claim and/or White makes the leap, they could go down to 9.

BROOKLYN NETS
PG: IRVING, Dinwiddie, Pinson
SG: LEVERT, Temple, Nwaba
SF: HARRIS, Musa, Chandler
PF: PRINCE, Kurucs, Thomas
C: JORDAN, Allen, Claxton

I've been saying for months, Taurean and DeAndre will start. Rodi and Jarrett are still important members of the core and rotation, they will probably each get 20+ starts due to injury/matchup. The new duo are bigger impact players right now, and are also slightly better suited to complement the starting perimeter players.

Dzanan will hold onto a role, IMO. He's the 10th man, but some folks think that Nwaba or Chandler will beat him out for the 2nd string, and I don't see it. His assertive offensve style will add a dimension to the bench.

We'll be strong. I know that many statistical models have us as a below-.500 team, but I see us over 50 wins. Let the games begin!
Some people really have a way with words. Other people... not... have... way.
