Fred is likely going to be Kyle Lowrys successor in Toronto. I dont think the Raptors have any intention to shop him unless they are out of playoff picture come Feb and get a solid offer of young player + 1st for him at deadline.

FVV is right now worth more than he will ever be again . Not sure what the price is, but to acquire his services I could see a late lottery pick on the table pretty easily.

Worse players on a single year contract have netted a first rounder. After what he did in the crunch time of NBA Finals/East Finals, the Raptors might naturally want more.

Remember when some people thought scary Terry was some kind of star, based on a few good playoff games?

Wherever FVV's value was before the playoffs, that's where it still is. Maybe slightly higher.

If the Clippers aren't healthy and like 12 teams realistically seem themselves as contenders, some team about to draft #20 or so could trade their pick for Van Vleet to be their 6th man and it would make sense. He'd really help a lot of teams like that, especially the Lakers (all their picks gone though) Bucks (with Brogdon gone would be huge), Philly (perfect fit hassling point guards and hitting 3s when he's on) but also the Rockets, Jazz and Blazers.

A protected first? Sure. Look at the PG rotations for the Suns and Magic.

VanVleet is a good but not great backup PG who could be a borderline starter. The expiring contract probably puts his value at a 2nd round pick plus an underachieving prospect in need of a new start.

late lottery is like 12-14.. i'd much rather have a guy like VanVleet unless it's a full rebuild scenario

he's only going to get better.. guy has a special work ethic and the mental make up... i'd lock him up if i'm Tdot

The problem is that FVV will be a UFA this summer, with no loyalty to the team that just traded for him. Given his contractual situation, I’d much prefer a late lottery pick.

Pick in the 10 to 20 range. Would love a FVV for SGA type trade even if the Raptors had to add value.
