Seems like a good spot. They can take advantage of his skills and won't put up with any complaining about practices.

I'd rather have Lyles than Morris, so imo good for the Spurs.

Still upset over Morris. He was such a perfect fit

With Lyles, I can picture the next Carlos Boozer maybe the mid version.

In a way since you wanted Mills and Bels out of S.A. I was thinking Marvin Williams to S.A. for both Mills and Bels and a 2020 second to ease away the ill will from Morris.

I would do that Williams trade, though I'd want to find a depth guard at that point. Dunno if there's anyone left on the market, but if there is, then the MLE would still be available.

Knicks got burned here. They could have used a PF like Lyles. Depth at PF is going to be a real challenge for them as they make their run to the finals.

Morris and Lyles can't guard the premier wings like Morris can. Thats really what we needed

That's not what the Spurs needed. They have plenty of "perimeter wing" defenders. They needed someone to defend new-age PFs. They got one in Carroll and should have had a second in Morris. Lyles doesn't seem to fill that spot, so I'm not happy with this signing. But Williams would.

I'm thinking Jeremy Lin, Raul Neto, Frank Mason III, Shelvin Mack are possibles.

Lyles is fool's gold.

I remember when the Jazz board wouldn't shut up about trading Favors so that Lyles could start and do magical things for Utah's spacing. Then Trey became the starter after Favors got hurt and the fans suddenly realized the Trey Lyles magic was just a "pull my finger" trick.

Pop is going to rip Lyles apart and he's going to have another terrible season. An immensely talented player, but has the attitude of a 9 year old.

premier, not perimeter.

Who exactly is guarding Kawhi, Lebron, KD, Giannis, Doncic, PG13, Tatum, or Siakam? We're not a real contender if we can't match up with them. Carroll isn't sufficient.

Lyles is a major downgrade from Bertans. Huge downgrade. Morris screwed them

Never saw much of an attitude problem from Lyles but he's just not that good. He's good at getting to the rim but his shooting is extremely streaky and his defense is just ok. Maybe Pop can figure out how to use him in the best way possible but the Spurs would much rather have Morris or Bertans.
