Steven Adams to the Hawks

Post#1 » by dorkestra » Sun Jul 14, 2019 8:05 pm

Thunder trade:
Steven Adams

Hawks trade:
Chandler Parsons (expiring)
Damian Jones
OKC 2022 1st (1-14 protected, after which becomes 2024 and 2025 2nd round picks)

Depth Charts
Trae Young/Evan Turner/Jaylen Adams
Kevin Huerter/Allen Crabbe
DeAndre Hunter/Cameron Reddish/DeAndre Embry
John Collins/Jabari Parker
Steven Adams/Alex Len/Bruno Fernando

Chris Paul/Dennis Schroeder
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander/Terrance Ferguson
Andre Roberson/Hamidou Diallo/Abdel Nader
Danilo Gallinari Patrick Patterson/Darius Bazley
Nerlens Noel/Damian Jones

Thunder depth chart obviously still in flux.

Adams helps the Hawks take another step forward without handicapping their future significantly - one more year one Adams deal after this and they relinquish a non lottery first, while banishing Parsons from the premises.

Thunder get one of their own first round picks back - even though it was already lottery protected, getting the pick back provides the team with more dealing flexibility going forward. Parsons is waived and then banned from the premises, saving a year in salary and clearing some cap room next year.

i think we keep Adams. I also think we end up keeping our 2022 pick.

Interesting but it seems ATL has been focused on developing centers that xan dpread the floor: First Dedmon then Len and now Fernando. Not sure thar adams fits with the style they appear to want to play. Then there is the salary issue.

What salary issue? There's no salary issue.

This makes sense for the Hawks because Collins is too weak under the basket and ATL will get torched in the paint by teams like Milwaukee and Philadelphia.

Wouldn’t call it an issue but Atlanta will have only rookie contracts going into next year and like it’s been said Adams isn’t a good fit for Atlanta.
