Pistons - Spurs (DeRozan)

Post#1 » by DetroitPistons » Thu Jul 18, 2019 12:29 am

Snell, Galloway, Kennard, 2020 FRP for DeRozan

Why SAS?
They turn DeRozan into a good SG prospect and a pick and also add a couple 3pt shooters for their rotation. Basically beginning the rebuild and allowing their young guards (Forbes, White, Kennard) to continue to develop.

Why for DET?
We upgrade from Kennard to DeRozan, who flourished with Casey, to jump up the standings.

Jackson/Rose/Frazier
DeRozan/Thomas
Doumbouya/Mykhailiuk/Brown
Griffin/Morris/Maker
Drummond/Wood

Hmm, we could include Jackson instead of Snell. Jackson is expiring and would allow you guys to include a throw in player of your choosing if need. Including Sekou makes it tough since the idea would be to replace Kennard with DeRozan at SG and we would need a SF to start for us.

Derozan played almost exclusively SF last season.

Jackson would need to get routed somewhere else probably with Belinelli being included

Oh did he? Interesting. I prefer him at SG but I guess that might work too. Hmm. Managing the contracts of Jackson, Belinelli, whatever else can be done somehow I'm sure. Just gauging his value from a Pistons/Spurs perspective.

I agree that DeRozan only goes to Detroit if they either give up Sekou (or maybe two firsts) or manage to give up a pick while also routing Jackson to a third team for future value. If OKC does a Paul trade with Miami and gets someone like Johnson back, then Johnson plus an asset from both OKC and Detroit could got to SA with Galloway, DeRozan could go to Detroit and Jackson could return home to the Thunder.

Ain't no way Pistons should give up Sekou in any DeRozan package.

DeRozan could walk after 1 season! I wouldn't give up any quality young talent for him

DeRozan is a dubious fit and a rental. No reason to give up a valuable prospect for us.

I'm not willing to give up Kennard and a 1st in this deal. Expirings + 2020 1st rounder + B/C level prospect (Kyhri, Svi, or Maker) would be my best offer.

The real reason many multiple players for one trades never happen and not only for the slots but trading two or three or more players of lesser skill sets for one major and significant player generally results in the team trading the best player becoming a much worse team

I wouldn’t give up that much for a rental.
